DNQ should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Herman Tilke

I was horrified with Mr. Tilke's castration of Germany, but I've been wondering, how many tracks has he designed?

I can think of these:

- A1-Ring (1997 onwards)
- Hockenheimring (2002 onwards)
- planned Silverstone Modifications
- Bahrain
- Shanghai
- Sepang

And possible (but I am not 100% sure)

- Nurburgring (new circuit, 2002 modifications)
- Estoril

Can anyone add to this? Why they let him design so many circuit's I've got no idea, I reckon I could do better. I read before he got his inspiration for Sepang from 'Pac-Man' - shows just what sort of man he is. Apparently he is an ex touring car driver. Anyone else shed some more light on this dreadful man?

I wonder why he keeps such a low profile....

Arrgghhh, I was misled by the smiley face beside the heading, I thought it had been announced that he would never ever ever get to design or modify another GP track ever again...

His methods really are truly appalling, yeah I'm all for safety in F1, but F1 is motor racing, there's no such thing as racing on most of Tilke's circuits. Please stop him getting his mitts on any more circuits.

I've got a feeling there was a Hermann Tilke who used to race in the 1600cc class of the European Touring Car championship back in the mid-80's- could this be the guy by any chance?

The only good thing that man has done is the A1-Ring, which is superb... the rest are just... well...

I wouldnt call the A1-ring anything near superb. Well, in Tilke-land it probably is, but in F1 land its just another mediocre track. Great scenery tho.

The A1-Ring is a marvelous track : perfectly designed and one of the best tracks all year. However I must admit that I miss the old Zeltweg track, but since it had to be cut it should be pointed out that Tilke did a fine job in Austria.

I'm currently working on what i think would maybe make a good track...

Haven't figured out the start/finish line, the pitlane or stuff like gravelpits and sandbanks yet...

For the one thousanth time, a Bahrain night race would work. Anything else won't. Absolute wibble. Too much money, once again.

Uhm... I'd need a description of the track's other dimensions... Elevation, camber, etc...

Looks interesting. You could without that first chicane... The hairpin'll be hell because you're braking while you're turning, hard to guage the apex... Those next corners are good, but there won't be much room for passing... And you could certainly do without that last chicane just before the pits. All in all, looks like a very good technical track, but it'd be hard to race on.

I don't like chicanes, by the way.

If you've got more designs, you should seriously post them to the "My Tracks" thread.

Was he drunk when he designed the first section of the bahrain track?

The china track looks great! except for that double hairpin at the start... But it has what it needs to get overtaking:
a technical corner followed by a huge straight, and an
hairpin at the end. His best track I think (Not hard to beat)
