The FORMER Empire continues to crumble.
Following on from the wave of resignations from HRT, comes the news of another two.
1. A driver(I'll let you guess which one). 2. Paul"Wally"Weassel-long time HRT icon in charge of PR spin. Looks like that "bloody big fence" that Crennan built around that team is not just falling down but being demolished by Mr.Skaife. |

Interesting first post....perhaps for personal protection?
Not sounding sceptical, but Wally? Crikey, he has been there for what seems like eternity. Is this Gibson/Skaife Mark II?? Let's hope not. |

But if you break a 10 year lease or whatever deal, then you have to sort of admit you are wrong. Or maybe I have to admit I am wrong.
Either way, something is wrong when the "model" team has personnel offering themselves around to other race teams. It is a sad sight to see really, as if I remember rightly, the origins of HRT's strength came from the Gibson/Skaife Sega days before Skaife became known as the 12th or 13th man, or whatever the title was - because of deflections to HRT. If only you could sense my frustration...!! Last edited by Just Do It!; 26 Jun 2004 at 04:17. |

It's not blatant, it's subtle - they aren't advertising their availability

I doubt Skaife would leave at all, Tiko, but I might have missed something major. But then if Skaife left, so would he

My information is that Jason Bright and PWR are to part company, the reason for this is unknown. PWR have another high profile driver to join them.

Tiko, they don't want to lose the 'TRUCK DRIVER'
He is a great one! I couldn't catch him in HRT's B Double down the Stuart Highway in the NT after leaving Darwin. I was sitting on 130 and could only see his lights far in the distance on some of the long straights. I only caught him when he stopped at Tennant Creek. He was the first truck back in Melbourne on Tuesday night (even beat the QLD guys back) so they dont want to lose him....hahahaha Last edited by V8 Supercars; 27 Jun 2004 at 01:56. |

Crikey, thats pretty quick! Is NT open speed limit for trucks too??
I have heard that the HRT truck driver has boasted a time of 10 hours from MEL to SYD, but I don't know Australia enough to know if it is possible. |

yes it is possible , but you'd be legging it in a truck , Im 3 hours from melbourne and 6 to 7 from Sydney and thats by car , so a truck would have to be fairly legging it to do that.
and besides we got the camera thingies that time you and work out if you have been speeding now , so maybe this 10 hour trip was a little while ago |

Yes, well to be honest, I was amazed to the point of questioning it's possibility realm.
Their rig must get a compulsory pad change after each round One would have thought that the idea was to be a positive role model, rather than a boy racer in an 18 wheeler though. And no, I am not just picking on HRT as NZ has plenty of truck racers on the road who try to save time by going at it boots and all. |

yes it is possible. I can do SYD to MELB in 8hr and 30mins. This was in a truck that ran under log book laws in NSW. HRT could do it but to do it legally they must run two up (2 drivers)
NT is open to speed limits to any vehicle but police have descretion. A vehicle must be capable of doing that speed and inreality anything up to 150km/h will pass under the 'radar' so to speak. If doing more than that you will have to have a car very capable of that speed. Last edited by V8 Supercars; 27 Jun 2004 at 02:16. |

It was 10 hours on non-main roads I am told.
Mind you, having said that, one of my friend's cousins had a limited edition Denny Hulme Commodore. He was 13 hours from Brisbane airport by road, and had it cut back to 9 hours using back roads. It's a hell of a time saving by anyone's account, but quite an exciting average speed wouldn't you think? |
