Le Mans 1:18 Winners

Hello
I have picked up the Le Mans winners from 1998 up to 2002 in 1:18 diecast off of eBay when there's been a bargain to be had. Now I'm wanting to bring it up to date by adding the 03 and 04 winners. Can anyone suggest the best place to buy the Bentley as this never seems to come up on eBay? Also is the Audi Team Goh 04 winner available anywhere and if not is it a planned release?

Only Maisto have released the previous three Audi Le Mans winners in 1/18, and I don't think that the 2004 car has been issued -yet. May be worth asking them if and when?

I would expect the R8s to be re-issued by someone like AutoArt or Minichamps a few years down the line, when the Maisto license runs out, seeing as the cars are very significant and the likes of the Gulf and Champion cars were never released by Maisto.

BTW all of the Le mans winners from the 80s and early 90s will be released soon from Minichamps, Exoto and Autoart.

Heres the Mazda 787B

I'm afraid that someone on another board heard directly from Maisto that the 2004 winner won't be produced. There is however a conversion kit for converting the 2002 winner apparantly but it's more expensive than the model!

I'd suggest everyone go to some of the major diecast maker websites and send them email/feedback about making more 1/18 scale ALMS/LMES/LeMans diecast cars. I have. I try to send them an email weekly, and suggest certain cars. 1/43 scale is nice, but I like my cars to have some size and detail to them! Heck, for what you pay for the 1/43s you might as well be getting 1/18 anyway.

There are so many good cars that are unavailable in this scale.

-Ferrari 550s/575s (Labre, Care Racing, Barron Conner, Raf Olive Garden, etc)
-Saleen S7Rs (Konrad, Acemco, Graham-Nash, etc)
-Dyson Lolas
-Panoz LMP open cockpit
-Panoz GT
-Porsche GT3RSR (Alex Job, Racer's Group, etc)
-Audi R8 (Champion Racing, '04 Winner GOH, Velouqx, Gulf, etc)

and on and on and on.......

I would suggest e-mailing Spark Models asking them to build the 1/18 models you list.

I've had an e-mail from them suggesting they will enter the 1/18 market at the end of the year.

As you will know Spark have a fantastic range of Le Mans cars in 1/43rd scale.

AutoArt will make the GT3-RSR's, while BBR are rumoured to be making the 575/360 GT cars.

Time to dredge this one back up from the depths

Spark are definately producing 1:18 models now - I picked up a very nice 1:18 2005 LM winning Champion Audi last weekend. And they are apparently going to finally bring the 2004 winning Goh car to market also.

So I now have the following winners cars:

1966 McLaren/Amon/Grossman/Gurney Ford GT40
1969 Ickx/Oliver Ford GT40
1995 Dalma/Lehto/Sekiya Mclaren F1 GTR
1998 McNish/Ortelli/Aiello Porsche 911 GT1
1999 Dalmas/Winkelhock/Martini BMW V12 LMR
2000 Biela/Kristensen/Pirro Audi R8
2001 Biela/Kristensen/Pirro Audi R8
2002 Biela/Kristensen/Pirro Audi R8
2003 Capello/Kristensen/Smith Bentey EXP Speed 8
2005 Lehto/Kristensen/Werner Audi R8

Now it gets silly - the Sauber/Jaguar/Mazda models are beautiful but horribly expensive

1953 Jaguar C Type - Autoart. (You ought to know this Craig, you were standing next to me when I bought it )

1955 Jaguar D Type - Autoart. Slated for release this year.

1970 Porsche 917k - Autoart (discontinued) Universal Hobbies. Autoart is vastly superior model.

1971 Porsche 917k - Universal Hobbies

I have seen Ferrari 250/275s but not sure if they are specific Le Mans winners. I would also guess there must be some 1/18 1920s Bentleys out there.

If anyone knows if the D Type is available and where I could get one I would really appreciate it. Same goes for the Autoart 1970 Porsche. Needs to be sensible £s though, £40-£50/model is my max.

1968 Ford by Eagles Race (I think)
1952 Mercedes by CMC.

The 1983 Porsche 956 unfortunately comes with Racing Decals rather than Rottmans, so I'd give that one a miss.

Ooops, yes, I totally missed that one, Allon! And thanks for the updates also - I suspect it's gonna get very expensive soon...!

I am kicking myself about now as I managed to miss out on an very well priced eBay auction for the Mazda 787B...

Ref the Rothmans/Racing decals on the 83 Porker, I have seen them available with the Rothmans logo on and I will definately be looking for this - the Racing one is horrific!

Money is such a bummer. Or, more to the point, the lack of money! But it just makes these little purchases all the more rewarding when we finally get our hands on them.

I see that the 1954 car is now being advertised by GPL. Not that that necessarily means anything... they have a habit of promoting new models waaaay in advance of their relese. The shocking thing is the price. A cool 190 quid!! What an absolute shame as it looks stunning in the photo

as a complete n00b when it comes to models... how do they justify that much money for a model? i mean, the costs to make it - one would assume it's hand painted or something for that much!

The Exoto models are expensive, but the likes of the XJR-9LM are worth it.

I also have 3 Exoto Sauber C9's and the AA Mazda.

I'll pass on the Minichamps 956's as Exoto have announced they'll produce them.
