Best Looking Grand Prix Car
I've just finished watching my american import of the film
Grand Prix and i've been motivated to have a poll of peoples opinions of which grand prix car in there eyes was the most attractive, it did'nt have to be sucsessful or anything just beautiful to look at or listen to.... mine would be 1). 1967 Ferrari 312.... need i say more apart from the eagle weslake was nearly as nice to look at! |

I love the D50 Lancia (before it became the Lancia-Ferrari) and the Mercedes W196 streamlined GP car. I also like most of the GP cars of the 1930s. The Lotus 25 and the Ferrari sharknose are my favorites from the 60s. I like the Arrows A2 because it is simply weird.

There are so many....
Mercedes Benz W125 Vanwall VW10 Maserati 250F Sad to say, after wings started appearing on the cars, designers have never really been able to make designs work on an aesthetic level as well as a functional one. |

My all time favourites are the 250F, the Lotus 33 from 1965, The Amon Ferrari from 1967 and the Mario/Ronnie JPS Lotus 79 from the '78 season.

I once asked a pre-war GP Alfa Romeo to marry me, it was so beautiful ... although I was having to turn my back on some Bugattis. (It turned me down.)

Call me crazy but I happen to think the BRM P83 of 1966-67 was rather appealing. The car was a slug, but a pretty slug. The Lotus 49 was not all that bad either!

I would go the Lotus 49 for what it is. Simplely beautiful.
but the 312 t/4 would be there on style(lack of it in some peoples minds.) |

Must I choose just one?
Maserati 250F - Someone once wrote that if you asked a child to draw a racing car the result would be a 250F. I agree with him - it's just so "right" The Eagle is just so beautiful - the colour and that beak! Lotus 25 - Is it the car or the driver? Lotus 72 - either the Gold Leaf or the JPS Brabham BT52 Any of the West McLarens - say the MP4/13 It's got to be the 250F |

I love the Maserati 250F, but given a choice between it and an Alfa 158/159, or an Auto Union, or pre-war Alfa or Mercedes....

I always reckon it's difficult to differentiate between cars you like (perhaps due to a personal experience) and cars that are just great to look at. However, my list would probably include
Lotus 79 (in JPS or Martini liveries) Scarab Jordan 191 (an odd one I know, but I reckon the 7Up livery was great!) Brabham BT46 Lotus 72 Mercedes-Benz W125 My Dad is in agreement with the Eagle people. No contest apparently (except from the Aston DBR4) |

Your list is pretty similar to mine- 250F, Eagle, Lotus 25 and 72- (72 has to be in JPS colours though- if only because it's one of the first F1 cars I remember....) A few I'd definitely add to the list are the Lotus 49 (choose between Team Lotus green or Rob Walker blue- definitely NOT Gold Leaf though....), the original Jordan 191 or the streamlined Mercedes W196 from the 50's Last edited by KA; 4 Mar 2003 at 13:52. |

Maserati 250f, Lotus 25, Lotus72 and 79. Colin Chapman was a genius, his cars were not only inovative, but fast and beautiful.

Lotus 79 in German GP spec with no tobacco advertising - beautifully simple
The original 1994 Ferrari was swoopy until half way through the year |

It hurts me to say this, as I don't subscribe to the Frerrari legend, but I do like the original 312B from 1970. And of course the Eagle Weslake. Wot a stunna.
