Design my track !
Gday guys
I race 1:32 scale slotcars for a hobby, and as the title suggests, i was hoping that all the talented designers here could come up with something for me to build as my next track. I have 4 sheets of MDF at 6'x4' each .. so either ; 12'x8' 16'x6' or 24'x4' what i need is the track width at least 8" wide - undulations is ok, but no Laguna Seca corkscrews ! (not easy to bend). Cheers LAV |

Would be good to know what corner speeds and angles those slotcars can take without flying out of the groove.

Why not simply take a look through many of the threads on here to find something suitable, or close to. Then contact that person by PM regarding having them make whatever minor adjustments.
I'm sure many of the designers on here would be thrilled to see an attempt being made to build their design whatever the scale. In saying that, when you give your feed back to Bio, perhaps you can give some idea of circuit length, and style...twisty(within reason) long fast straights etc. Many sound like silly questions but I have no knowledge of 1:32 slotcars Last edited by ScotsBrutesFan; 26 Jan 2008 at 19:33. |

Excuse the double post, but after a little research I have more questions...
The 8" track you are asking about, is this to be essentially for 2 slots? Are you asking for a design in which we have to indicate these slots? Are you looking for the slots to cross over at any point on the lap? If so How often? |

no not asking for the slots to be put in, just the track itself, i saw the thread of 500 pages and thought after 20pgs in - nope ! .... ill be building it in a couple of months. Slotcars can take any corner (just release the throttle )
Ill post some pic ideas ... |

The locked MyTracks thread is now several years old, and while it does have some great designs many of those that posted them aren't around in thios section very often if at all.
I meant looking through the individual threads below that one, as many are created with each new design, though some have many designs by the same person. |

Here are a few tracks that some around the world have done
Nuburgring http://www.oldslotracer.com/Nurburgring1.html Targa Florio http://www.oldslotracer.com/Targa1.html another Florio (digital) - ie able to change lanes http://www.slotforum.com/forums/inde...0&#entry325883 (that guy had another track that he sold to Warner Bros - you may remember Dukes of Hazzard 2 - where they were playing with a slot set ) theres some ideas ... but instead of just trying to design something i thought get everyone to put our heads together .. what i was thinking about was something like Zandvoordt pre 1950 GP track with the newer moto track on the inside ... |

OK, some more questions - of course
- What's the required width per car? - Is there any kind of standard for track length, number of corners? - Do you have any plans regarding the landscape you plan to surround the track with? bi |

Indeed given that virtually all the designs done here are in 2D with imaginary slopes, are you looking for something which like these photographs contains banked corners, "out of sight" sections, elevated sections/bridges etc

Forget the banking - too hard to bend the wood
2d designs are fine , we can work out where the rises will go. Like what you guys are designing (like the gokart track) where there can be multiple combinations. Im going to be the only 1 with different routes on 1 track ! ... some have a rally track enabled on a road track to fill the infield. OK make the roadway width 12" to enable 3-4 lanes ... cheers brendan |

OK, here's my first go:
The thick gray line is the 12" trackline itself, the thin red one is only the centerline of that so it's easier to follow. It has alternative routes as asked. I tried not to use very tight corners. There's a bridge - I hope that's not a problem. I used 4 different radius circles for the main corners: If interested there are further data for dimensions available. bio |

Looks great bio :P
What program you using ? The start line to under the bridge - i like - but unsure about the top section ... looks more like rally... here's one rally im building now ... had to kill the beautiful back end of the track due to the heat here in Oz, the heat warped the MDF wood. I had the monaco hairpins in the back left cnr centre right |

Sorry guys been overseas for a holiday for the last 3 weeks, got back last week...back into it now... found a great little program to use to design as opposed to the flashy ones bio does .. i cant match those....
Just getting used to the prog 1st before i come up with anything... heres a copy of Zandvoort now trying to figure out how to do elevations on the program? The fantasy track i did of the LA turnpike (where i was for holiday) came home and thought that'll look great as something so i quickly put something up once again sorry guys for the irresponsibility of not getting back to you brendan Last edited by lavenlaar; 27 Feb 2008 at 00:23. |

That's pretty cool! Although the penultimate Audi S-corner isn't exactly correct.
