Dart Formula Atlantics

We discussed Darts briefly on an all purpose one-off F2 cars thread a few years ago. As Darts weren't a one off [I think five were built] I'm throwing this out into the world in the hope that someone, somewhere, can add to it.

1983

83M-001 Dave McMillan in USA pro series, sometimes used as spare car. Taken to NZ series early 1984 [chassis number noted] and used by Paul Radisich in 1984 AGP [chassis number noted]. Probably taken back to USA by McMillan and sold, along with his early Ralt RT4 to Mike Downs [Sonoma CA]. Advertised by Downs along with the Ralt in On Track 8.7.85, then in On Track 22.7.85 p. 85 Dart 83 rebuild, also available Dart F.At roller dissassembled. [Suggesting that he also bought one of the other 83 cars]. This car or the roller sold to Dave Gott and used in 1987 SCCA and WCAR.

83M-002 unknown, perhaps the source of the disassembled car in Downs's advert

83M-003 Used by Brett Riley 1983 AGP [chassis number noted] and in 1984 NZ series [chassis number noted] not see after but perhaps sold to Downs.

84M-001 unknown

84M-002 Stocker Racing[Michigan] For sale On Track 31.1.85 p.72 with chassis no, Jennings and Hasselgren motors , 517 482 5800

Two 84Ms are then advertised in such a way in 1985 to suggest that the Stocker car changed hands and the other 84 car went to a similar area.

'Howard' f/s OT 22.7.85 p.85 1984 Dart only 5 races rebuilt Jennings 313-971-1441 [313 is a Michigan code] (I think this is the ex Stocker car)

Kevin Hummell f/s OT 9.12.85 p. 81 new Dart 84M 15205 NE 95th St Elk River MN 55330 612-441-2259 [Minneapolis area] (I think this is 84M-001)

Anything about Dart greatly appreciated

Chris

DART Engineering

I have an Indy car, the DSR (Doug Shierson Racing)that I was told that the tub had been built in England by DART. That was 1983/4 that the car was built. I was also told that the fellows that were DART were laid off Williams fabricators. Not sure whether its all true but I have drawings that show that the tub parts were DART.
