If there will be six car teams:
Ferrari - M Schuey/ Rubens/ ? BAR - Button/ Sato/ Davidson Renault - Alonso/ Fisi/ Montagny Williams - Webber/ Heidfeld/ Pizzonia McLaren - Kimi/ Montoya/ Wurz Sauber - Massa/ Villeneuve/ Liuzzi Whether Toyota would run a third driver depends how many teams drop out. |

If only one team drops out then only 2 teams would have to run 3 cars to make it upto 20.
If thats the case does it then go to the top 2 teams in the constructors championship to run 3 cars (Ferrari and BAR)? Also is Badoer in with a chance if Ferrari run 3 cars? |

i doubt ferrari would run badoer in a third car.when schumi broke his leg in 1999 they had the chance to race badoer then and they didn't,(even though he was driving for minardi at the time). i think nowadays when you spend a few seasons as a test driver, that's how you stay.

Quite true Rich!
Besides badoer is a known slowpoke. They'll give the drive to someone that at least has a chance of being fast....Massa,Luizzi,etc ...they are still looking for a an MS replacement after all |

...and i can't wait 'till such a time as there simply aren't enough working cars to make up the grid (for various reason)
--and bern has to cough up a HUUUUUGE fine by the race organizers Justice will be so sweet I can see it now...(bernie speaking) "C'mon eddie-rejoin f1!Here's 5 mil just for the one race. You don't even have to bring an f1 car! I'll have a word to max-any car will do!!" ....so eddie turns up with a chop top morris minor... Last edited by RWC; 25 Oct 2004 at 02:03. |

Ferrari would probably run Liuzzi in the third car, as they want him to gain experience before supposedly moving up to the race team when Michael retires.
Davidson at BAR is an automatic choice. Montagny's situation with Flavio has supposedly deteriorated, but he is still the favourite, although I guess Bourdais would be considered. Pizzonia would almost certainly be in a Williams, although I suspect Heidfeld or DC would eb designated as the secodn driver. Wurz's contract may require him to be the thrid driver - if not expect someone like Paffett or Hamilton. |

I would have thought that Toyota are more likely than Sauber to run a third car, if only for financial reasons.

Bernoldi isn't Red Bull back anymore, since he left (correcten: had to leave) Arrows.

If I was a team boss I'd be using proven test drivers to give me a race worth of good solid testing...

So how on earth,as seems more likely,do the likes of Jordan and Minardi score points if every other team has 3 cars!,indeed if only the top eight score points what does this mean for any team not in the top 3?

As it stands the third cars aren't eligible for points, which is a bit silly in itself.

The third car drivers are eligible for points, but the cars aren't eligible for WCC points.

Flavio is very much in charge at Renault.
His contract goes to the end of the 2005 season. |

That's how it works in rallying, Adam, and as all FIA championships tend to use the same points system there's no reason to expect F1 would be different.

So what's the point,F1 is confusing enough to the "casual" viewer as it is(pitstops etc)the point scoring system will only make it worse, and James Allen trying to explain it to the people watching TV worse still!

Normal points system. Only the top two cars score for the WCC to make it fair(er) for those with only two cars. I don't think it is that confusing.
