Poor Fisichella. Gotta feel sorry for the bloke. To be honest, that 1-2-3 is easily the worst I could imagine from my point of view, but there you go...
Just wanna wish JPM good luck for the race - clam down this time |

Poor old Yoong, just too slow....
Yeah both Fisichella and Trulli seem to have bad luck at most races. Feel a bit sorry for Rubens, losing pole to Schumi. I'd prefer Rubens on pole. |

wow look at Heidfeld in 7th ahead of the Renault's! Pretty amasing.....and Villenueve in 10th isn't too bad at all for the BAR.. looks like the Honda improvement did help a little as they are getting a bit closer to the Renault's...you could tell he was really pushing the car

Doesn't it seem sad that drivers like Fisichella, Coultard, Barrichello, and Ralf all have secure seats in F1, despite having had race winning cars for many more seasons than Jacques, yet failing to chalk up as many wins as he (let alone a WDC) that it is Jacques who doesn't have a drive in F1??? Sad indeed. |

this is going to be a very predictable race.
TFG wont do his chop, because poor rubens is next to him, he'll make a good getaway, and rubens will act as his rear gunner. how boring!!!!!!!! |

that was avery good good lap by Micheal at the end , he deserved pole , but it was good to see Rubens push him so close . A good start from Juan tomorrow should bring the race alive .
But i just hope that Ferrari let Rubens race , and not make him play shotgun to Micheal . |

Well at least I earned a point in the Predictions competition!
My question is whether Schumacher will chop Rubens and let JPM around on the outside?? Expect another messy start tomorrow. |

This might keep JPM out of trouble in the first lap. It will be interesting what pit stop strategy Rubens will get: 3, 2, 1 or zero.
I hope Fuel will see that Mark Webber qualified ahead of two cars with works engines. Neilap will be happy to see all the Hondas ahead of Toyota. Personally, rain or shine, I think MSch will romp away with this race. Last edited by Valve Bounce; 13 Apr 2002 at 12:22. |

The only way this race will be exciting is if there is a first lap crash; Montoya taking the lead (so that Schuey can chase after him) or the Ferraris and Williams' failing to finish.

I heard from another forum that Michael had to use the T-car during the qualifying session. Is this true?
P.S I think Ralfs confidence may be growing after the last 2 races. Perhaps JPM now has something more to worry about other than just Michael. |

Well...Michael just goes about showing why he is just that good...to come all the way down back up to pole in the last few seconds...got me to the edge of the seat, that lap, i must admit..i almost thing its a goner...phew.
Good stuff by Rubens...his recent forms have showed that he is also a very good driver on merit too. Wish him all the best for tomorrow. |

If Ralf wants to be ahead of Rubens, he must go straight and stay on the faster line of the grid and follow MSch. I can't see MSch swerving to cut Rubens off. I can't see JPM tangling with MSch, maybe with Rubens.

I'm worried Juan'll take out 3 or 4 cars at the launch. He's got to be _so_ eager to get a win by now, and he'll have to get around Rubens, who'll be intentionally blocking, and Ralf, who'll be blocking because he couldn't pass a city bus! If Juan can get clear, though, he should be able to take a secure second. It'll take blistering hot conditions to get the Michelins working, though, or rain to make it a race of driver skill.
Is the 107% rule _ever_ going to be enforced? Alex Yoong clearly does not belong on an F1 grid! Last edited by Lee Janotta; 13 Apr 2002 at 13:58. |

Great session. The hero of the day had to be Rubens. It was wonderful to see him actually rattling Schumachers cage for a bit. Pity he lost out - I think he deserved to be on pole. Im not a fan of Barrichelos but he was easily the star of the session today.
Ralf was great - as always. 3rd on the grid - same position as last year and same result hopefully. Though I gotta tell you guys - Im pretty sure we're going to have some sort of trouble on the first lap. Imola is not a place for over taking and all the top 4 know it very well. They'll be trying to make up a position before the first corner and its quite possible we'll see both Ferraris weaving all over the place - especially Rubens since he will be desperate to hold onto 2nd. |

Could be an explosive start, hasn't MS been a bit tardy off the line of late? JPM will do his usual blast off the line (what's the chances of him tangling with Ralf?).
There could be a lot of weaving and dust flying so expect the Mac's and Renault's to make up some ground on the first lap..... |
