2007 Italian Touring Car Championship

Any news on possible entries for the 2007 Italian Touring Car Championship?
Does the series have a website?

From racingworld.it: there are three Zerocinque BMWs confirmed and one of them a new E90 (ex-Zanardi) with Davide Roda named like driver, two BMWs from Team Marco Friso. Also there are Alfa Romeo teams expected: Antonelli Sport and Scuderia La Torre.

SEAT Sport Italia and Chevy Italia (Bluteam) could race.

Zanadri's old BMW? Seems awfully impractical, or is it a small job to rebuild it to standard?

Should be an easy job with the right mechanics. If they where to sell the old Zanrdi car I also expect them to rebuild it to standard before selling it, also cause they probably would want to keep all the special made parts to put in their new car.

what about a return by Audi after an absence of many years? Where is the AGS team now? They used to run Colciago, and sometimes Massimo Pigoli - they should return to the ITCC in 2007 with one or a pair of ex-STCC Audi A4's.

Also, what has happend to CiBiEmme?

And what were some of the other classic BMW teams from the Super Touring days, that could now emerge again to race in the ITCC 2007?

Audi Italy is official involved with 3 4WD Audi RS4 cars in the Superstars series, see this website for more info. Pigoli is the 2006 Superstars champion. He drives for the official Jaguar team.

Love those Audi's in the Italian series, great V8 exhaust note, and the limits on the car modifications mean the cars move around a good bit on the racing surface. Thats what we like to see !
I've been out of racing for a while, as well as CiBi where are Bigazzi and Ravaglia these days ?

Mixed feelings about this series. The cars looked not very quick and the series lacks entries.

With SEAT Italy moving to WTCC (or do they still enter in ITCC?), any chance Audi Italy moves from Superstars to ITCC (with STCC Audis)?

Well, Superturismo hardly had packed grids this year...

ITCC and Superstars have indeed both small grids.

At least ITCC changed promoter, from now on it is Peroni handling things.

Totally agree about the grids. Normally it was only about 10-12 cars with 4 in with a winning chance. However the spectacle was certainly good and the idea was basically right. The cars aren't fast because the regulations stop a lot of development. Looking at how the cars handle, I bet the suspension is fairly standard, nothing like a supertourer.

But then 2l L4 engined supertourers don't come close to 4.5l V8 superstars !

Bigger grids at it would be huge, but that's life.

What about the Italian Volvo distributor? Are they interested in ITCC?

Considering the S60s have struggled so much in the ETCC and STCC, I doubt anyone else would want to race the car? But if the car is successful, the new or used price for one would be high?

OTOH, I'm not sure if the ITCC competition is as tough as the STCC? But since Works BMW are involved, you can be sure they will put up a good fight for the championship.

Well after reading what Meissner said that theres only 4 cars alive and one is for sale in Danmark, would anyone wanna buy the one for sale to race in Italy? I'd guess they would get little to no help at all from Sweden and Polestar racing and parts would be hard to get. I guess they could buy one or two new cars from Polestar if they can build them, but I reccon they would be quite exspensive and to get a deal with them to support them with parts and all that, well you could probably get a damn good BMW team set up for that money and be way more succesful, sadly.

sadly, i see that the 2007 ITCC calendar does not include a visit for the series to the fabulous Enna circuit. That circuit is fantastic - flatout and a few chicanes!!!
