StuiE should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
2007 Nextel Cup Fantasy Championship

Been thinking about this the last few days, is anyone up for competing in it? I'd want at least 10 teams

I'll put a proper entry post up in December or January with the rules and drivers costs etc, will be ran with the 'old' rules, ie no chase

Points would be tallied just by adding up the points from each driver of each team after a race, IMO the system used in the ChampCar Fantasy series wouldn't work too well in this, I had thought about it.

Suggestions for rules etc welcome, please say if you'd like to be in it, just to see roughly how many are interested, would be great if we could get 20+

cheers

Count me in. The place I used to work at had a pool and you selected 6 drivers for each race: 5 you were scored off of and 1 for a tie breaker. You could choose any 6 drivers and change from week to week (so long as two people didn't pick the exact same list). You were scored based on the points the driver earned in the race. It was pretty simple to set up and figure out the scores. Just a suggestion.

I'm in a football tipping comp like that at work, works well, but I don't like it for motorsport/on forums as I always forget about it, and pull my hair out working out who to pick hence I only compete in comps where you pick a team for the whole season, it's more fun (IMO) and you will be able to make a couple of changes to your team anyway, it makes the races more exciting too, seeing how the drivers in your team go, especially if you aren't actually a fan of them and usually don't want them to run too good :P

I've got a setup for scoring now (many thanks to Antrodemus) so should be good for the start of the season, will be opening entries and working out the salary cap and driver values in December...

cheers

I have a early version of the Drivers/price list

I'm thinking, max 3 drivers, limit of $6m

Fulltime Drivers

00 - David Reutimann $500,000
07 - Clint Bowyer $2m
1 - Martin Truex Jr. $2m
2 - Kurt Busch $3m
4 - Ward Burton $600,000
5 - Kyle Busch $3.5m
6 - David Ragan $700,000
7 - Robby Gordon $2.5m
8 - Dale Earnhardt Jr. $4.5m
9 - Kasey Kahne $4.5m
10 - Scott Riggs $2m
11 - Denny Hamlin $4m
12 - Ryan Newman $2.5m
13 - Joe Nemechek $2m
14 - Sterling Marlin $1.5m
15 - Paul Menard $1.5m
16 - Greg Biffle $4m
17 - Matt Kenseth $5m
18 - JJ Yeley $1.5m
19 - Elliott Sadler $3m
20 - Tony Stewart $4.5m
22 - Dave Blaney $2m
24 - Jeff Gordon $4m
25 - Casey Mears $3m
26 - Jamie McMurray $2.5m
29 - Kevin Harvick $4.5m
31 - Jeff Burton $4m
36 - Jeremy Mayfield $2m
38 - David Gilliland $2m
40 - David Stremme $2m
41 - Reed Sorenson $2.5m
42 - Juan Montoya $1.5m
43 - Bobby Labonte $3m
44 - Dale Jarrett $2.5m
45 - KylePetty $2.5m
48 - Jimmy Johnson $5m
49 - Mike Bliss $1m
55 - Micheal Waltrip $2m
60 - Boris Said $1.5m
61 - Chad Chaffin $500,000
66 - Jeff Green $2m
70 - Johnny Sauter $1m
72 - Brandon Whitt $500,000
74 - Derrick Cope $500,000
78 - Kenny Wallace $500,000
83 - Brian Vickers $2m
84 - AJ Allmendinger $1m
88 - Rudd/#28? $2m
89 - Morgan Shepherd $500,000
96 - Tony Raines $2m
99 - Carl Edwards $3.5m

I know it needs a bit of tweaking in regards to driver values, if anyone has any suggestions, I'm listening, I only knocked this up quickly.

Also only Fulltime drivers will be alowed, so that's why Mark Martin/Regan Smith and Ken Shrader/Jon Wood aren't there, not sure if Boris Said is running the full season just yet, I had heard earlier in the season he was, but it doesn't look like it now.

I doubt Morgan Shepherd will end up running the full season and if he plans it I'd drop his price down. I'd also cut Allmendinger back, he might be popular, but I think until he's proven himself he should be on par with Ragan and other rookies. Montoya on the other hand has proven to be halfway decent and I think his price is fair. I'd cut Menard back some too. That's all I can think of now.

I'd lower the top drivers values by a $500,000 - $1,000,000.

If someone chooses JJ, they have no budget for the other two drivers!

You'd still have $1m to lavish on Chad Chaffin & Brandon Whitt!
That's the price you pay for quality, though.

Yes, anyone can, will be opening entries probably early January, Ricky Rudd has been confirmed at RYR now (great news btw) so maybe before then.

Have noted people's comments above, I like to keep the cap 'tight', IE hard to choose, with a lowish budget, may change it slightly.
