Photos @ Belgium GP - SPA 04
I'm planning to go to the Belgium GP this year.
What is the viewing like?, do you need to be in a grandstand to get good unintrupted views of the track? and Photos? Theres a vast difference in a grandstand ticket price and general admission. |

Well I went with the GTs last year and got some nice pictures from various place - Eau Rouge, from the grandstand - out round the circuit. The fencing has a lot of holes in it so you can stick a camera lens through easily.
Enjoy |

Because the circuit is hilly most viewing points look over the fences rather than through. The non-grandstand F1 tickets allow plenty of viewing opportunities limited only by size of the crowd claiming the best spots.
Must get out there this year, (not for the F1 though, something decent ), didn't get the chance in 2003. Frites and mayo nyum nyum nyum. |

Inside and outside of the Rivage and Bruxelles corners.............
Depends of the time on the day Check Spa 1000 km 2003, Racing Festival 2002, FIA Sportcars for photo's in Rivage & Bruxelles. If you have more questions, send me an email Hmmmmm, when you go to the GP, only the inside of Rivage & Bruxelles is good for pictures. In the outside area you can run into some nasty dogs By the way, that spot is "Zone Bronze", the cheapest ticket you can get. Last edited by Zandbak; 22 Jan 2004 at 22:48. |

Thanks for the info on Rivage & Bruxelles. I will be attending Spa for the first time.....convinced my "better half" that our vacation to Ireland in late August should include this side trip. Our race seats are at Eau Rouge but I plan to go exploreing on Fri/Sat. .......Suggestion(s) on which lens to leave at home....70-200 f2.8, 300f4 IS, or 400f5.6 would be most appreciated. thanks Murph |

For Bruxelles / Rivage a 300 is more than enough, but remember it can be dark there in the morning.
If yoy want to make good "fill-outs" in Eau Rouge you need the 400. But can't the boss carry that 400? |

After 36 years of marriage....she rather I address her as "she who must be obeyed" than the boss! And yes...she CAN carry the 400 (which with the Canon 10D 1.6X makes it a 640)....shhhhhh...she's coming into the room......gotta go Murph |

I've been a few times and even with less than average come away with pictures I'm thrilled with from all round the circuit. I found the run down to Pouhon provided some dramatic panning shots with lovely blurred tree lines behind, and through the trees toward the Bus Stop is effective if your fast enough!
In terms of watching the race, I really would go for a grandstand if at all possible, or get there very early - the Bronze areas are rammed from the start of the day. |

Idd, you have to be at the circuit around 08.00 o'clock on Sunday morning when you want to have a good spot somewhere from Rivage to Pouhon. But on the fridays and saturdays that isn't problem.
The place is even better on non-formula 1 weekends for amatuers like us. Look at my site and go to Spa 2003 Miles ...........it isn't 100% legal to stand there, but if I see no security......well, who's gonna stop me Last edited by Zandbak; 26 Jan 2004 at 22:34. |
