A little Photo Trivia Game
The attatched picture is from a significant moment in F1 History.
Would anyone care to offer the name of the Driver, The car and why this was an noteworthy event for both driver and car, and the location of the race. I suspect Murph will remember. Last edited by EERO; 5 May 2001 at 16:07. |

Mosport?
(BTW this is a huge stab in the dark, and I wouldn't be surprised if I was highly embarrased when the true identity is revealed). |

Is it 1973 and BRM's last race. I really dont know to be honest! The only way I guessed it was Lauda was because of the helmet.

Mosport Canadian GP 1973 and the last time that a BRM would lead an F1 race.
I would also guess that it was the first time that Lauda had led a race. SL |

Excellant, Simon!!
During 1972, Lauda had raced a factory prepared March to which he brought then huge sums of money for the ride. In 1973, joining BRM he was very much #3 on the team which included Reggazoni and Beltoise, funded on a race by race basis. Early in the season, Reggazoni stunned everyone with his performance in the South American Races, starting with Pole in Argentina and leading a fair number of laps. sadly, BRM was in terminal decline, and they faded farther to the back of the grid, until Canada when the young Lauda, still with only one fifth place finish to his name in two full years in F1, shot into the lead and drove away from the field in a wet race where BRM's lack of grunt from its V12 was not such a disadvantage, only to suffer a transmission failure. The next year, driving for Ferrari, Lauda would step up to the front rank and BRM would fade even farther from view. Their best result a surprising second by Beltoise in South Africa. |
