Dario

I read in one of these threads that Dario was looking to get out of his contract with Team Mikey Racing, is this based on any fact of is it just someone making stories up? I hope he has seen the light and wants to return to CART!

I'm not so sure that CART are sorry to see him go -
massive ego, mega-whinger and large salary demands....

If you had his bad luck, you'd whinge. Besides, that's the British national pastime.

Hmm, I've read plenty of rumours concerning Dario and Tony and their plans for next year, as it appears all is not well for Team Mike, but I am doubtful they would return.

There was a rumour about him hanging around NH wishing he'd taken that drive when it was (allegedly) offered to him, but it proved on investigation to be just him saying goodbye to people.

I think Dario has taken so much heat from his former fans for leaving, and said so many ugly things about CART, that he couldn't possibly come back now even if he wanted to -- not that he wouldn't be taken back, just that his pride wouldn't allow it.

The big rumor is that he went because it was the best offer he could get. No other team could afford his salary and Honda is paying his tab. I don't think he is looking forward to an oval only series versus a diversified series.

Now I do not agree with his comments concerning CART's safety team or the race management squad, but they may have been the sour grapes of a guy not winning.

I'd love to see Dario and Tony in CART next year. Those are two guys who would seem to find pure ovals more objectionable. Even if you don't like them, you must conceed that their pressence is a feather in the cap of CART.

Dario's burned a few bridges, IMO. But I'd still welcome Tony back.

Tony was bad mouthing CART every chance he got ever since he signed with Andretti. I won't miss any of them.

I'm with Ben on this one. Dario and Tony need to just keep walking. If they look back, they may get a pie in their face! Let them do their **** talking in the IRL!

They can do whatever they want. If they race in CART, fine. If they don't, fine too, but then who the hell will care for 'em?

Don't let the door hit you in the anus?

I say let the past be the past and the future be the future. Team Honda's Money err Andretti-Green can go oval racing and CART can move on to bigger and better things. Besides the guys name is Dari-o and since o's are the only thing he's going to be driving on it's a perfect match. I've never thought much of Kanaan's ability to be honest so that's not any sort of loss to me. I'd rather look to the future and put the past behind us. I just wish those KOOL cars weren't gone. Those paint schemes will always be the best in racing IMO. Oh well, Players is pretty cool. By the way, does anyone know if I can get a Team Players PT hat yet? If not, why not? I NEED A PT TEAM PLAYERS HAT! HELP ME CANADIAN FRIENDS!

I don't think Players call "sell" their items, due to Canadian anti tobacco laws. True?

Ringo's right, he isn't really special. He only took 3 wins this season and got beaten to the '99 title on count back by some Colombian racer.

I heard $4million for 2003.

3 wins against whom exactly???
He's a journeyman - always has been, always will be - why not ask someone at Mercedes what they think of him?

3 wins against Da Matta (new F1 driver), Junquiera (F3000 champ), Brack (near-F3000-champ), the mega-experienced Tracy and Andretti as team-mates, Vasser, Carpentier, Fitipaldi.....

That said, $4m seems excessive, especially compared ot what Bruno Junquiera is getting for the Newman-Haas CART drive. If you let your purse rule your heart and head, as Dario has, you suffer for it.

You can tell that to Villeneuve, but he has 1 more CART title, 1 more F1 title and 1 more Indy 500 than Dario.

I really don't think Dario or Tony were that bad regarding complaints, etc. Before last May how many people liked PT? He's said way more things, acted like an ass, etc.
