Michele Alboreto
today April 25 is the thrid annivesary of Michele Alboreto's passing.
Was a very sad day that i read the news of him having his accident in the Audi sportscar. Michele was the first driver I followed in Formula one , the first GP I ever watched my brother was with me and he said lets both pick a driver and see how he does , i choose Michele for no other reason than he was one of the first cars i saw , I dont remember how he did in that race but I followed his career from that day on and to have him taken from us the way he was is a complete tragedy. I guess I can thank Michele in lighting the fuse for what has now become my passion. Thanks Michele for all the memories and you will surely be missed. |

I remember having a nice chat with Michele and Christian Danner during a quiet spell at a DTM meeting at Donington Park.
I only wish I had my autograph book with me at the time. |

Memories
I always looked forward to the F2 Thruxton Easter week-end. I loved the different cars and had a soft spot for the drop-dead gorgeous Minardis. One year I was busy in the paddock taking photos of Michele's car when his mechanic came over and moved in to take off the nose cone. Michele immediately stopped him and asked me to finish taking my photos. After I had finished I got the obligatory autograph then we chatted about the forth coming race. He was a true gentleman and was anything but a fiery Italian.

Great photo, Marcus! It reminds me of Surfers Paradise when the cars get airborne after they hit some of the rumble strips. Michele is sadly missed.
