Graham De Looze should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Hare wood hillclimb on sunday was good. It just shows how **** so called performance cars are. Nissan Skiline GTR (well pumped up),Porsche 911 all the WRX's all got their arses kicked by Richard Casey in a 1380 Metro not to mention some old f*r*s in clubmans cars.Wasnt even his car and it was the first time he'd ever driven it.

Good news. Most 'performance' cars are mobile posing pouches.

Harewood : any Minis? TVRs?

Where's Harewood? If up North, what's the nearest hillclimb to Dorset? I've got the Autosport Guide but I'm just too lazy to go up to the attic...

Nearest hill climb to Dorset - will probably be Gurston Down, at Broad Chalke nr Salisbury (only a few miles from where I grew up, and saw my first motor sport there!).

Probably really easy to get to from Dorset, as its only just off the Blandford - Salisbury road.

I think theres about 10 days a year when cars run.. plus there's a hill climb school!!

Because I'm biased, I'll say you're lying about the TVRs...

Minis are always fast (sigh)

Will have to check out Gurston some time this season. Any websites with the dates you know of?

Ok so they wernt slow they ranged from 75 to 68 seconds. Richard pulled 66 on his first run but broke something so he didnt get a second run.

What times were the Minis doing? And what does a single-seater Pilbeam do?

Have you ever hillclimbed one of those spaceframe Minis?

Hill record is about 55 so 66 isnt exactly kicking ass. Nearest to my car was a Maguire Metro also pulling 66 so room for improvement there then.

This is from the Gurston Down webpage... which has some good photos etc. You can access it directly through the BARC page..

The Gurston Down Calendar, 2000

Location
The Gurston Down Hillclimb takes place on Gurston Farm, which lies just south-west of the village of Broad Chalke, which itself lies some ten miles south-west of the City of Salisbury in the County of Wiltshire, Southern England.

Access is best made by turning off the A354 at Coombe Bissett, some three miles south-west of Salisbury, and following the unclassified road through the villages of Stratford Tony and Bishopstone to Broad Chalke.

Once in the village of Broad Chalke, follow sharp right just past the Public House, pass the Village Garage on your right, and then follow sharp left. Gurston Farm lies approximately one mile up the valley on the right-hand side. Please note that this is a working farm, and animals other than Guide Dogs are not allowed.

The dates may be on the BARC website - not too sure, otherwise have a look in Autosport!!!!

Gurston is one of the quickest (if not the quickest) hillclimbs around - dur to first long straight which plunges downhill (wrong way) into the valley.. I can remember seeing one of the Formula 1 engined cars breaking 130 mph through the speed trap - and this on a farm track....
