Ultimate fantasy match-ups.
OK, we've seen some great drivers in the last 50-odd years.
Who would make your 6 driver ideal match race. Cars? Circuit? For me: Senna GV TGF Clark Moss Fangio Hard to pick only 6 isn't it? Spa circuit or maybe Silverstone. Not in the current cars. Your thoughts? |

Fangio
Senna Clark Stewart TGF Moss on the old Nurburgring in 1960s driver-controlled cars (certainly not point and press). And the finishing order? Who knows?? |

For sheer thrills, I'd love to see:
Senna Gilles Montoya Clark Stewart Fangio At Spa or Bathurst, in pre 1968 machinery. Although, seeing any F1 at Spa would be nice now. |

For pure fun
Gilles Senna Peterson Clark Rindt Zanardi "Zanardi?" You will say... well, he's the ultimate overtaker. Cars? McLaren M23s, Track? Dijon, just because it hosted The Great Duel |

I nearly did include Mansell actually, dropped him for Gilles at the last monent. A second set of 6 would probably be Mansell, Rosberg, Ascari, Rindt, Alesi and Jacques. Seeing the greats of F1 compete in CART cars on a great track like Road America or Wadkins Glen would be great as well.

Rosemeyer
Nuvolari Fangio G. Villeneuve Senna M. Schumacher If I had four more slots, I'd add Jackie Stewart, Jim Clark, Alberto Ascari, and maybe Montoya (just to compare to Schumacher). I'd love to put Emerson Fittipaldi and Stefan Bellof on the list as well... The cars? Machines from the '66-'68 seasons, the early machines of the 3.0L formula. Take your pick, but no wings of any sort allowed. The Nurburgring's the only circuit appropriate for such a fight, of course. Last edited by Lee Janotta; 15 Feb 2003 at 18:05. |

You're trying to kill them, aren't you
For me: Aguri Fisichella Stewart Ickx Alesi Schumacher All driving Formula Holden's at Bathurst. ^_^ They seem to spin easy. And why such an oddball supposedly mediocre lineup against Michael? Well, he's the yardstick now but on equal terms on equally unknown territory for all the drivers, I'd like to have seen how those other drivers compare. Just some of my favourites for one reason or another. If I had to choose a great race then Clark, Mansell 92, Senna, Schuey, Gilles, Lauda. I'd like to add Fangio and Moss but... ah. These are my choices and I don't need to vindicate them Damnit X) |

Its a shame that Katayama has such a poor reputation - in reality he was easily the best Japanese driver yet - don't forget that he would've come 2nd in Germany 1994 but for a brake failure, and qualified 5th in Hungary that year. But for suffering cancer, and being unwilling to play second fiddle to Micahel Schumacher, he could've been Benetton #2 in 1995.

I'd want more than 6 picks - a minimum of
Rosemeyer Nouvalari Fangio Moss Clark Villeneuve Senna Prost Schumacher Have them race Maserati 250F's, Lotus 49's and Brabham BT52's at Original Spa and Nurburgring. I might even pay to go watch that! |
