So shortly it comes out. Any ideas of what It'll look like?

All I know so far is that the first race will be Las Vegas, and a week later Long Beach. My guess based on nothing is 17 races. Obviously no South Korea.

Read somewhere that they were opening up with Vegas,LB and Houston all within the first 3-4 weeks or so. Milwaukee not viable so dropped, Montreal likely gone, Phoenix in. So 2 out 2 in would be how it likely could stack up.

Rumours about Philly and Beijing even Europe, but nothing to hang your hat on for '07 I'd guess. But no one knows for sure.

Arr Monterrey, forgot about that one. 3 out 2 in. Which means a reduction in schedule which I don't think will happen. I'd say for every race out there will be a new race in.

Yeah from recent quotes I would expect Milwaukee to be dropped. Yes indycool you were right.
I thought the new idea was to have a new race ecah year or something like that..
Three possibly four? street races as the first three to four races, hmmm I hope that doesn't happen....

You know, that might not be a bad idea. Kind of like how in golf where 3 of the 4 majors are in different golf courses each year. Or how the All-Star games or the Super Bowl is in a different city every year. In one sense it doesn't make the schedule stale.

I think the Otaru Grand Prix will happen in 2007... they are working hard on this projekt:

"On July 20 the Hokkaido Otaru Grand Prix Project Committee and the Champ Car Otaru Grand Prix Corporation held a meeting with members of the press and advertising agencies to explain the progress of the Otaru Grand Prix and to announce plans to hold a demonstration run in October 2006..."

It's apparent a lot of different things are in the works for next year, so it will be fun to see how it shakes out.

Las Vegas is done. It is going to happen Easter Weekend 2007. I like Otaru and Phoenix as very real possibilities with San Antonio and Pook maybe 2008.

From the last page of the Gelles anouncement on the official site:

"The 2007 Champ Car World Series season will begin April 8, kicking off with the newly-announced street event in Las Vegas. The race will be immediately followed by the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach April 15, with the second running of the Grand Prix of Houston coming April 22."

Hmm hopefully there will be on CC sanctioned race in first week of June. I wouldn't want to see 7 weeks between rounds 3 and 4

Why start the season in april,why not in march like all the other motorsport series?.

I used to love it when the CCWS used to start as early as February and end in November which it still does.
I guess the start in the first week in April is so all the teams can get origanized in time. I remember that was the case in 2004 when they had to put back St.Petersburg (which in the end, ended hopes of a second race there) and Monterrey.
I do wish it started in March next year, as surely Champ Car will be much better organized for next year and most of the driver line up sorted by then which is good to know as thanks to the IRL's problems, the silly season in Champ Car is starting much earlier.

When iconic actor Paul Newman looks out at an old Brooklyn airstrip in Floyd Bennett Field, he doesn’t see a past where Amelia Earhart and Howard Hughes staged record-setting flights.

The 81-year-old Academy Award winner sees a future where 65,000 people are gathering for a three-day auto race every September.

The challenge now is to convince the borough to share his vision.

Newman, a racing enthusiast, met last Friday with local elected officials for a (horse)power lunch at the New York Marriott at the Brooklyn Bridge, promoting a $15 million plan for the site.

Discussions will resume Friday, when Nealy meets with Champ Car president Steve Johnson. The series' 2007 schedule is expected to be quite different from previous lineups, with at least two new events, and races at Montreal, Milwaukee and Monterrey, Mexico, reportedly being dropped.

"Quite frankly, we should have something announced relatively soon as far as where we are going from a scheduling standpoint," Johnson said.

"I'd say it looks better for Portland now than it did prior to the Portland race. I think the results were much better."

Last month an estimated crowd of 44,065 watched A.J. Allmendinger win his first Champ Car race. In addition to the raceday attendance jump, Nealy said corporate sponsorship of the event was up $100,000.

Last weekend in Edmonton we drew 170,000-plus," Johnson said. "The corporate support was great, the hospitality suites sold out.

Unless a sudden merger with the Indy Racing League changes everything, Johnson said Champ Car will have 15 or 16 races in 2007. That will include new events in Las Vegas and Phoenix and perhaps Zhuhai, China, and San Antonio.

John Clagett, Champ Car's vice president of venue development, said Tuesday that the 2007 schedule should be released in late August. He said the conversations with Nealy about Portland "are ongoing, and that's pretty much all I can tell you. Everybody's of the mind-set to try and make things work, and make (the event) more viable so we're not going through this on a regular basis."

I've done quite a bit of research in various large markets to find locations like this one, and I've even drawn up 5-6 layouts for a circuit at Floyd Bennett Field.

The Hangars could serve as a paddock, and the place seems to be in surprisingly decent condition....
