Chris Wilson should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Vortex Motorsport F3000 in 1991 and H-H Frentzen

I have an ex Heinz-Harald Frentzen 1991 Lola F3000 chassis number 27, run in period by Vortex Motorsport. Despite some searching on the `Net I have been unable to find much, if anything, about Vortex. Who were they and where were they based? I am also looking for any period photos of the car when Frentzen ran it. Thanks.

Vortex was set up by Dutchman Henny Vollenberg, who was HH-F's manaager at that time. I think the team was the sister team to John Macdonald's Superpower outfit which ran cars in the British series for Richard Dean and Phil Andrews, I might not have that totally correct though.

I think the deal came together quite late and funding from Camel Germany was sourced. This was because Frentzen didn't want to continue full time with the Mercedes Junior thing in Group C as he felt he wouldn't get the right shot at F1.

As it turned out, he arguably he made the wrong choice as the car-team-driver combo had a poor season against the dominant Reynard 91D's of Fittipaldi and Zanardi. His hitherto Merc colleagues Schumi and Wendlinger both got to F1 much quicker thanks in part to sauber, Neerpasch and Mass's help.

Frentzen then went to Japan for a couple of years in then A-J F3000 series to resurrect his career.

Some good info here, thanks. So can I assume that this car was Camel Yellow in period? Still not found any photos, but I have found some '91 Autosports, thanks to `er indoors insisting the attic gets tidied before Christmas, and before the weight up there brings the ceilings down Please feel free to add to this, much appreciated.

They are located in Belgium.
Henny Vollenberg was the Team Principal from Vortex-Motorsport
DonĀ“t know if I can tell their email-address and phone number here.
If you want to contact them you will find all you need at "racecarsdirect dot com"
Search for Reynard and you will find a lot of stuff from the seller "vitrace"
vit = Vollenberg-International-Transport
