Kid Prozac should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
ITV race coverage

were only five minutes into the grand prix and already the commentators are doing my head in! already theyve missed or failed to mention that:

- heidfeld went down from 3rd to 5th
- as far as i could see it was panis who went off at the first corner

anybody else heard any more. im sure there will be plenty more, will keep you posted!

What was that interview with the football pundits all about?? Hello?? This is FORMULA ONE coverage, not football! And does anyone really care that some ultra-camp London hairdresser cooks himself a roast and watches every GP??

If this is what the pre-race "coverage" is going to be like, they might as well just cut it to a 10 minute synopsis of what happened in qualifying.

You know, it would even it up nicely if they had a quick interview with James Allen a few minutes before kickoff don't u think?

Imfinitely beter than "It's coming, it's coming, it's coming" which he used in Malaysia (I think) which made him sound like he was having an orgasm.

I think some of you set your standards too high. Martin has family problems so he couldn't be there, and I beleive that a deal is almost definate for Ben edwards to be commentating for F1 ITV in 2003.

I get the impression that the commentators spend most their time looking at a bank of screens showing info different to the broadcast picture. This is OK because we get to hear info that we cannot tell by looking at the picture, but I think maybe one of them should look at the broadcast picture all the time.

I get really irritated when they miss somthing like HHF's spin or Heidfeld being passed twice in one lap. I'm normally at home shouting at my telly, because I want more info about such incidents.

What makes it worse is that not much interesting has happened this year, and normally the commentators are telling us somthing that is not too important in comparison.

I've never seen anyone else's coverage other than ITV (or formally BBC). How does the coverage on other channels compare?

I'm hoping the Ben Edwards story doesn't come true! So he can stay on SKY! Sorry!

Martin and Ben would be a great pairing. I hope for the opposite switch!

I might start writing to ITV telling them how good James is!

I have two tellies and hook my amp up so I can switch between the two (although this gets used less and less! Now I only go to ITV for Martin's grid walkabout).

When I saw the hairdressing (or for that matter Jim or the footy bit) on the other screen I remembered how I used to shout at the telly.

I agree!!!! This is very annoying indeed, seems he's trying way too hard to find a signature saying.

However, living in Canada I get two choices as far as broadcasts are concerned, the ITV and the SpeedTV one. Believe me, you would consider yourself lucky to watch the ITV broadcast after you've seen the American one.

I have to say Murry I miss you. Brundle is brilliant not had a pundit that good since James Hunt. When I was board of Palmer and Walker Eurosport did provide light relief but the ads at any point in time ruined the coverage. My latest grievence with the ITV coverage is the annoying F1 logo permantley digitised to the bottom of the screen that needs to go, along with Jim ' I would rather be doing Football' Rosenthal, and Beverly 'I am here to make F1 look sexy and have nothing else to do ' Turner. As much as ITV did improve the F1 coverage we have been spoilt with Murry and untill somebody decent say Ben Edwards, or even Alan Jones comes along I will have to suffer the above. Don't get me wrong james was a great pit lane reporter, but he is no commentater.

ITV whingers, come to Australia and give channel 9 a go
You'll be ringing British Airways demanding a flight home after one race...I tell you, you poms get alot better F1 coverage then here in Australia. Not having a go at you, but I am just trying to put into perspective. No qualifying for us, no practice highlights on the news even, and delayed races

People seem to forget that the actual race coverage is the same everywhere (well, non-Bakersville feed anyway). The dodgy F1 logo (there for copyright purposes) and annoying feeds are the same everywhere, provded by the host broadcaster eg. ITV in Britain; TF1 in France.

So we can't blame ITV, Channel 9 or Speed Channel for the feed. We can however for the commentary which leads me onto my next point:

They get exactly the same feed as us - plus a window and a data screen but in general use the same feed as us. Which makes the commentary even worse.

Radio stations also commentate from the terresrial feed, and hence why I (I'm going to say it again - and although it may seem his way I'm not on commission) turn on my TV, put it on mute, and tune into BBC Radio 5Live. The background sounds match to the picture, no adverts, and although Morris Hamilton isn't as good as Martin Brundle; Johnathan Legard is much better than James Alien [sic]; and Peter Slater better than Ted Kravitz.

And as regards the pre-race coverage, 5Live do little, so I have to stick with ITV. Last weekend was simply dire (Hairdressers?! ) So, perfect agreement here!
