Maserati GTS
For the longest time the most excitement in the GTS class surrounded the upcoming Maserati "enzo" campaign in the GT class of the FIA GT championship and the GTS class at LeMans/ALMS and LMES...suddenly for the last couple months manufacturers such as Ferrari (575GTC) Lamborghini (Murcielago R-GT) and Aston Martin (DB9) have announced programs...what has happened to the Maserati effort? There were spy pics posted 6 months ago...but nothing since...pipedreams

You mean the Aston Martin DB9. I also haven't heard anything since. But hey, I bet Ferrari wants to keep it quite to surpirse everyone or something???

Jean todd recently said that they were thinking about running Le Mans next year, with the end of the FIA GT...
So the project is on........ and we'll certainly see the car soon. |

You also need to make a distinction with cars made by the new Ferrari/Masarati Customer Department i.e. 575GTC, 360GTC, Trofeo N-GT which are built too satisfy customer demands and the Masarati MC GTS which is destined to be a factory run car, with customer cars availalbe at a later date.
There were some discussions with the ACO to increase carbon GTS numbers to 100 in order to prevent homologation specials, which could have prevented the Masarati from running at LM. However it now seems the ACO have adopted a form of the FIA's 'supercar' regs which are only allowed limited mods, similar to an N-GT car. This will mean the Masarati can now race at LM. |

There was something about this on DSC only yesterday, from what it says we may see the car towards the end of the year, possible in the FIA GT or LMES race. But it is being aimed at Le Mans in 2005. Expect to see the car launched at the Geneva Motor Show in March.
