great race....
what a dull race, bet bernie has a word with max to diminish ferraris advantage with regard to tv revenues, remember 1988 mclaren walked it and the tv viewers where way down in '89 something has to be done..

I thought it was pretty good. Sky showed a great fight at the beginning down in the middle order and JPM and Kimi showed everyone what fair racing is all about.

please enlighten me ttc because I don't know what bit you're talking about. The only corner on which it was a bit tight was when Kimi tryed to hold the outside of JPM through the Agip turn and ran a little wide as a result?

It was pretty dull really wasn't it? I was hoping for a better race for my birthday. Oh well.

Just wondering, are those of you who proclaimed a boring race watching ITV per chance?

But I am in total agreement with you that it was FAIR racing. Never had a doubt about that... Just that if that was FAIR, wouldn't the "forcing" of Kimi in the last GP even more so with Kimi TOTALLY off the racing surface? That's MY point... |

Let's face, it. At the front, Schumacher's inevitable first place IS getting a bit repetitive, but the action in thr train was terrific and that battle between Raikkonen and Montoya was sumthin' special. What's really made that recent races seem dull is the iron-bound reliability of the Ferraris. If they were fast and fragile, we'd see some racing, but as they are so far ahead of everyone else on both counts, it is seeming a little dull. But the fact remanis that we are wtnessing an unparrelled dominace in the history of F1-no one has been so good for so long.

Clearly the people who are proclaiming it to be "the most boring race in years" have never watched a Hungarian Grand Prix.
My opinion of the new track shot up during the race - there was a lot more racing (the battle from 8th to 15th places was great, plenty of action there), although I do think that the track needs somewhere else to overtake apart from the hairpin. TGF's win was boring, as usual, JPM completely lucked into second and Ralf deserved to finish in second (but typically had bad luck with the car and backmarkers - I'm not best pleased with Jarno Trulli). I'm not surprised that Barrichello was the one to suffer with the pitstop and not TGF... |

It wasn't the most exciting race, but it wasn't the most boring either. I would say it was an average race. It was not completely dull at the front all the time, because at some point it looked as if Ralf could threaten to catch up with TGF, with the possibility of it coming down to pit strategy who would win.
Further back, there was plenty of drama. And both Ralf and Barrichello were unlucky today. Montoya was lucky, and he said so himself in the press conference: "Better lucky than good." |

It was a decent race overall, I thought. I would like to see more dicing up front such as the JPM/Kimi battle though. These parades where position changes are only a result of a pit stop is a bit boring. Part of the problem was (imho) the attrition - 9 cars running at the end?? I think I shall send Rubens a rabbit's foot (or a whole rabbit!) or garlic or something. If it weren't for bad luck he would have none at all.

If he deserves a bit of luck at this time, how much luck do you reckon Ralf, David and Rubens deserve by now? |

And for that matter, the new track has offended me as a viewer. I will never understand why they sacrifice a great track to build more spectatorseats, while the vast majority of the viewers are watching at home anyway. Whats wrong with a bit of character? What is wrong with a bit of atmosphere? I dunno, but I can tell you what is wrong with todays **** people call circuits. |

that was a hellava nap guys
it was a pretty boring race, so i decided to have a nap during it seeing as i have a heavy head cold. F1 bores me now. the starts are good but its obvious whats gonna happen next - TGF will go to the front, Rubens will break down, JPM will end up on the podium or break down, Ralf will drive consistently and score points, Massa and Sato will inevitably be the centre of some drama and both Arrows and Mclaren will either have a storming drive or never quite reach their full potential. and this happens race after race. |

Don't blame the tracks. Nor the drivers. And don't blame the winners. They WORKED hard for their achievements. We know it's not that there's NO overtaking. And how do you suggest "we" FIX it? Forget qualifying, hold a random draw for grid position on Saturday, add a few oil spots, thumbtacks, mini-antitank mines along the track on Sunday so that cars "randomly" break down, random blue flags as and when the marshals feel like it? How?! Last edited by ttc; 28 Jul 2002 at 18:45. |
