What a bunch of horsemanure. Now we can have Scott Goodyear going on at length about the driver skill involved in figuring out when to push the button to give himself 6.73 more horsepower. What drama. I remember seeing Rick Mears and Gordy Johncock dicing it out and wishing that they had some sort of special button that would give them an additional 6.73 horsepower after a 3.28945762384656 second delay. It would of course have given Mario/Michael something additional to whine about...
How about giving them all a motor that makes 850 bhp and a rear wing the size of a hotel room ironing board? Now THAT would generate some interest! |

Power tops Practice 1 with a 1:18.689 (108.564-mph).
I think this layout is, in theory, about the same average speed as the previous ones; it might be just a tick faster though. The new car will probably be faster here as well, much like at the other road courses. The existing Sears Point record is a 1:16.528 (108.337-mph) set in 2010. This is the third layout IndyCar has used at this circuit. In 2005-07, they used the Motorcycle Circuit (2.320 miles). In 2008-11, they modified it in the Turn 7 area. They continued down the dragstrip all the way to the corner, instead of using the road off to the left that gives a wider entry into the hairpin (the actual, original layout for the corner), and utilized the wide exit, or "Budweiser Bottleneck" as it is known in NASCAR circles (2.303 miles). This year, they've cut out the "Bottleneck" at Turn 7, and extended the runs to and from the Turn 11 hairpin by 200ft or so (estimated 2.373 miles). |

Q started.
Barrichello could theoretically do better here than anywhere else this year as it is the circuit where he & KV have tested quite a bit this year. Lack of track time has been one of his excuses (justified or not) all season. Has shown some pace in practice so far. |

Ryan Hunter-Reay
Ever wonder why you never see any publicity on Ryan Hunter-Reay's father Nick Hunter-Reay....well all you have to do is Google Nick Hunter-Reay and you will have your answer.

Well, I wasn't wondering as I already had an idea of that. What's next? A recommendation to google John Paul, Jr and John Paul, Sr.? The Whittington brothers?
This would be different if this were recent news and would certainly be appropo, but really... Last edited by JohnSSC; 26 Aug 2012 at 12:56. Reason: more examples of bad behavior. |

Ryan Hunter-Reay
Well I guess it doesn't matter to some what the likely source of a driver's money comes from...just that he get to the top period. Hopefully others have a different view of the morality of motor sports.

Well I guess it doesn't matter to some what the likely source of a driver's support money comes from, only that the driver wins races. Hopefully the majority of motor sports fans disagree with those that feel this way. Morality still means something to most of us.

I see, charlieoscar, that this is your second post and so welcome to Tenths.
That said, I have met RHR. He did not, I can assure you, get to IndyCar via has father's money nor does he have any issues with having a proper sense of morality. In fact, RHR languished for some time because of the relationship with his father and it took him longer (imho) to make it to the big show as a result. The man has talent but like a lot of other talented drivers out there he had trouble putting together the financials needed to get a ride. Ryan is the type of guy that the sport could use more of. I think it is unfair to post a link to an article regarding something his father did over 20 years ago and intimate that there is some sort of link between the success of the son and the failure of the father. If you want to explore the issue of morality, then I think it might be valuable for you to take some time and explore the morality behind posting such an accusation with what appears to be a fairly focused intent to besmirch someone's reputation without providing any proof that RHR has benefitted (or would want to benefit) from whatever ilicit activity his father may have been involved in. |

There are some people in front of the Versus stage thingy but when they showed the overhead of the circuit all of the terraces were almost entirely empty and the main grandstand only 5-10% full. Late arriving crowd? How Long away is the green flag time?

Must say that the two black dominating Penske cars reminds me of the dominating 1998 Mclarens or the 2005 Mclarens.
