Richmond Results
Hornish only leads two laps, but led the one that counted. Took the lead from deFerran (who led 168 of the 250), on the second-to-last lap and brought it home.
Points-leader Castroneves tags the wall on lap 8 and the car goes behind the wall for repairs. He rejoins on lap 156 and finishes 17th. So the points tighten up considerably. 280 Castroneves 277 deFerran 256 Hornish |

simply what an awesome racer by Sam Hornish , so controlled all the way through until he needed it and then it looked like he did it with ease.
nice little race towards the end with De Ferran, Hornish, Giafonne and scheckter all there and lil' Al not that far behind as well. plenty of action throughout the event and a very scary pit fire for Buddy Lazier and some fairly hard hits on the wall scary of most was Laurent Redons crash where his helmet would have been very close to hitting the wall while he up on his side. but a very exciting race and an exciting little race track too , cant wait for kansas next week to see it all happen again |

Well, this is old news to you guys, but I've just watched the IRL race from Richmond on Eurosport, so I'll make a few comments.
Great win by Hornish! I was cheering for him to take the win there towards the end, and when he passed de Ferran for the lead, I said "Yes!" at least four times (I had managed to steer clear of anything that could reveal the results). Great stuff! There is great racing to be found in this series. But shouldn't there be a rule against someone rejoining that late, as Castroneves did? Surely, there must be a safety issue here? And Redon's crash did look scary. Still, a great race, with plenty of drama. |

The IRL awards points to every starter! Castroneves was (is) in the points lead, and therefore the team wanted to get the car back onto the track to increase their tally. Every position gained is a point in the books.
