Over the years, F1 has seen very few women drivers. I've recently found the site for Sarah Kavanagh, an IrishWoman attempting to reach F1. If you haven't already, check out the site at www.fastsarah.com, which shows her currently racing in the BOSS F1 series for contemporary F1 cars.
I'm interested to know what you all think about the possibility of women racing in F1 sometime in the future. Let debate commence... |

The most sucessful lady driver ever in F1 was Lella Lombardi, she scored half a point in the 1975 Spanish GP.
She finished 6th but the race was cut short and half points awarded. |

If Max Moseley continues his 'reforms' of slowing down formula one, we may see women drivers in 5-10 years from now. And after all women are now doing professional boxing which is much dangerous than f1. But its still interesting that we dont see many females even in the lower formulae or even in carts. As Nige said "it's a balls out sport". Formula one requires those extra pounds of testosterone and adrenaline flowing through the veins that female anatomy may not afford.

Sarah Kavanagh is well known here in Ireland. She even presents a motoring programme.
BOSS is not exacly cutting edge though. She has yet to prove she deserves a place in F1. Put her in F3/F3000 & then we'll see. Actually I rekon she's full of ****... |

I work with a six pilote racing team, two of whom are female. One is as good as the guys are (or as most of them are) and is middle aged and is well accepted as a pilote and her gender is not important to anyone. One is sixteen and quite good for a rookie and drives a pink car and the boys hate her... because "she's got a rich father and she only weighs 115 lb. and She's Ruining Everything ... " but the fact remains that she is good. Will she progress? Maybe not, because she won't get the help from her mates that the boys get.
In the lower formulae, yes, let them race if they want to. In F1 and CART - NO NO NO NO NO. |
