Nero should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
V8 supercars engineering

Side intrusion on V8 supercars has incorporated aluminium honeycomb panels for some time now. Who was responsible for the engineering decision to fit these panels?

It actually came from Super Touring in Europe back in the mid 90's after the death of one of their drivers from a side impact. So the FIA incorporated side intrusion panels and the V8's adopted it a few years later.
