My attempt at a loose but technical drawing...

I've always admired Bob Freemans ability to draw something highly technical and accurate but without it getting stiff and lifeless - so I've tried to do the same with this side view. I'd be interested to hear any comments/suggestions - particularly if you think I've obscured too much - or not enough.

Nice idea Stefan. My training and profession before being a motorsport artist was as a technical illustrator.
I did many pieces like this for German car companies, which were used for presentations, but usually 3D views, not 'flatties' like this. They were done in pencil first, then as black ink line drawings which were coloured using pantone colour film.
I think the bodywork is a bit too bold and could do with being a bit lighter. This would then enhance the chassis and engine/gearbox which seems to be a little lost. Finally, I think the background tends to distract - how would it look with just a plain white background?
But a great effort - do you have anymore?

Thanks for the feedback Andrew. I'm glad I can use photoshop - I don't fancy the idea of using colour film much. Here's a version with the bodywork more transparent.

I really found the background did a lot to loosen the image up - it introduced lots of new colours and textures - without which it was very clinical - let's call it my 'style' for now - but if nobody likes it I'll change it - or cut my ear off.

I haven't got any more yet - it's my first attempt at something I've been meaning to do for ages. I've got no shortage of cars I'd like to do though - Ferrari 250 GTO, Porsche 911, 904 a few more 917's and on and on...

Great stuff stefan, but I agree with Andrew, I'd like to see it with a plain white b/g.......
