Marshalling Bikes...
I have been marshalling cars for a while now and really fancy having a go at marshalling some bike events as I have no prejudice towards 2 wheels and just love racing.
So I was wondering if anyone could give me any idea on who to contact and how to go about getting involved? I know you have to join Racesafe to marshall things like BSB, but do you have to do this course to marshall at club events? Thanks Ben |

No, just contact the club direct, for example Derby Phoenix who I Marshal with.

I assume you are in Ashford in Kent?
Basically as with cars, contact the clubs that are at the circuits you want to marshal. For Brands the main bunch are Mike Hodgins is the Chief M of Bemsee - our first meeting is coming up soon. Nino is the Chief of NG - nice little club but only a few meetings at Brands. Nick Coe is Chief of Thundersport UK - Good club. Those are the main bike players. You do not need to attend a training day to marshal. The basics of marshaling are the same as cars the rest you will learn trackside. Racesafe ask you to join, do their training and pay them !!!! However, when they are short they will take experienced marshals at some of their events. So once you get known on the circuit you may find you will be asked to help. If you have any questions just ask. |

Excellent, thanks for the responses Fat Clerk and sss.
Having lived the relatively sheltered life of a BMMC marshal since starting out I have previously only ever volunteered through their website, so it is good to have some other info. I look forward to seeing you out on the bank, for two wheels as well as four this year. |

Ben, I have convinced the Chief to add our dates to Julian's page.
