The Paper Clip and legal action.......
Jason R and his team are thinking of taking legal action against QR.

and if he does that how many will line up to sue for damages at Clipsal for turn 8?
I doubt this will get very far. |

I have seen the pictures, but haven't heard anything else. What turn did it happen, and under what circumstances would make them think they can sue?

That would set a dangerous precedent for others involved in big racing accidents. It's a bit surprising coming from Jason Richards considering what could cave happened with Jason and Kieren Wills.

I was half expecting this to involve Morris when i read the title, but J.Richards?
Hasnt he had his fair share of lawsuits already this year? |

QR is a CAMS licenced circuit - any liability would rest with them and their insurers.
The threat of legal action probably means the kerb will stay - after all to remove it now would be an admission of liability and validate any claim. |

This is a dangerous game to play... and for a team that gives all the outward signs of not being particularly flush with funds, it would seem a significant risk to potentially damage an income stream going after a member of the series. Meantime, I still cant see it is Mr Morris' fault more than it is Mr Richards' fault. The incident the day before is still in my mind... and you dont see Mr Sherrin sueing Mr Jane now do you? |

if this goes ahead or even looks like it will go ahead then it will be the final straw that broke the back of the v8s ever going back to QR

For the good of motor racing in this country, I hope to hell this doesn't happen.
The ramifications for this would be absolutely disastrous for the sport in this country. Fix the kerb for next year and let's go racing. |

Has any team ever sucessfully sued for a similar thing anywhere?
If this goes ahead, the only winners will be the lawyers |

Yes, sorry about that. My mistake there.
It was too late to edit it once I realised my mistake. |

You would think that if anyone was entitled to compensation from a track and it's negligence it would be LMS and SHanghai, but then, that would be a publicity nightmare, wouldn't it?

Meantime, it is said from places afar that the Queensland Raceway management is checking the details of their professional indemnity insurance contracts with fine toothed combs...
... just in case a claim is made.... |
