Aston-Martin, finished 3rd and 4th. They benefited from the chaos, as did other teams but that's part of it, getting through to the finish unscathed.

Alpine. They ran a good race, Gasly in particular. I know they took each other out, but they didn't deserve what they ended up with - nothing.
Kudos to Aston for another great performance and to McLaren for getting their canine cars to the finish in the points. |

I would have given it to Mercedes, but a grenaded engine is nearly a hanging offence these days. So grudgingly I give it to Red Bull because their only glitch was a brain fart by their No 2 driver in Q1.

McLaren - took advantage of the chaos to come out with a result nobody expected. Jumping them up to 5th in the constructors table.
Red Bull still way out front in terms of raw pace, Aston look solid, Mercedes aren't as bad as they say they are, Ferrari had pace. In theory if those 4 teams deliver with both cars that only leaves 2 points paying positions for everyone else to fight over so that's a big score for McLaren against Haas, Williams, Alfa Romeo and Alpha Tauri. You'd figure that Alpine should be picking up points regularly too so McLaren have potentially had a huge weekend here. |
