VanDiemen FF2004

Do you know if there is a new VanDiemen Formula Ford in 2004? Do you know if there are pictures available? Is it different from the model 2003 or it is just an evolution?

Thank you

As far as I know there is no change for the 04 Van Diemen, so while you can buy a new 04, it will be the same as the 03 in everyway.

And the '03 was only a mild update from the '02.

buying o4 for 1600, do you have to pay for mods to fit the 1600 or do you pay for the price of a roller chassis ready for kent engine?

THe kent car come ready to run except engine etc etc. I am told there are some small differences over the zetec aside from the usual engine, brakes, uprights.

As far as I am aware the 04 is no different to the 03...

mattray has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
Its a shame that I am now in a seperate class, our car having been built in 97 puts it in the same class as these zetec conversions which ours is not! ours was built as a kents for kents followig the kent rules to the letter! I hope that the newer class is not allowed to get away with new bits that are outside of the rules for the other classes as this could straight away put our car at a dissadvantage!

thats a bit annoying isnt it, surely the class should cover cars built to zetec/kent regs rather than post/pre meaning your car by the sounds of it being wrongly classified

If there is not much difference for the VanDiemen 2004, how about the Mygale 2004? Is there some pictures available? Will it be better than the VanDiemen?

Yes, I reckon the Mygale 2001,2003,2004 is a better car than the Vandiemen 99-04 but the GB guys have it etched into their heads that the VD is the only way to go and as a result Ralf robs them with the price's of parts. Their is more time in the drivers/engines than the car's! If the work's VD team came back with the 96 car next year they would stil win the zetec champ.

There is very little difference between an SJ01 and SJ04 (SJ04 is exactly the same as an SJ03) Slightly longer wheel base and slightl ydifferent bodywork to the mirrored rule.

Van Diemens are much better out of the box, they work well and are easy to use. The Mygales are a bit of a pig when you first get them and need a lot of effort, talent and development before they are better than the VD. I think thats why only ourselves, puddy and Jamun have made them winners.

Have to disagree with Mackmot on his point - VD's aren't always better out of the box. Especially when they screw up the bellhousing machining!

And then of course there is the legendary after-sales support...

"Roll centres? Why do you want to know that? We can't tell you that..."

If anybody is after a Mygale 00 zetec I have one for sale, it could be sold as a roller for conversion to FF1600 spec if required. PM me if interested.
