Which looks better...LMP or DP?

As there seems to be an argument about which looks better...what do you guys think? LMP1/2, or the current crop of supposedly more boxy and less varied DPs?

This is about looks, not racing/series/entries etc.

Personally, I can't honestly say any of them (DP/LMP) look good.

There is a degree of commonality sneaking in with current LMPs looking fairly similar to one another, while they still look better than GA (on the whole) some variation would be nice!!

New Dallara is a welcome change from the vast numbers of Rileys doing the rounds!

I think those DP's (Daytona Prams) are a hideous example of what is supposed to be a sportscar .

It may well be a successful championship , but they look vile !!!

I agree ..... it must be difficult for a novice to tell the differance between a Lola , Courage and Zytek LMP1 & LMP2 car ?

I must admit I understand from a cash and production point of view , but I dont like it !!!

If Audi built an LMP2 chassis , im sure it wouldnt look the same as an R10 .

LMP's might not be the prettiest of sportscars we've ever seen, and a lot of them may look similar, but I cannot for the life of me understand how anyone could think a DP is remotely good looking. Everything about them is just plain hideous. No contest whatsoever.

mod hat on This better not turn into a Grand-Am bash, or thread closed. mod hat off

Personally, the LMP's look much more purpose built, elegant, and faster looking.

"You mean like Risi lost in the poll against the Lizard's Mr.Brielga ?"

But honestly,I really can´t understand that the governing bodies of DP are so blind for the quasimodo´s they have running around.
I for one don´t take these cars serious in any way. I used to be a fan of the Daytona 24hrs but nowadays I simply don´t watch it anymore...

That said,LMP´s have had some quite ugly monsters running around. Think of the Lister LMP or the current Pilbeam.
Luckely we´ll be treated to a lot of beauties with the upcoming closed coupe regs!

First before I vote I would like a clarification from young master Minimangler. Are you implying that the new renderings of the closed LMP's are the "DP's" or are you truly asking about Daytona Prototypes?

About DP's. They should lower the cockpit and put a 800 bhp V8 NASCAR engine in the rear.

Ive liked the DP's since i saw the first Fabcar back in 2002. Some look odd (the new Cheever Fabcar) but others are spot on like the Crawford and from what ive seen the new Dallara is a looker. I like the Creation LMPs but most others(R10, Acura, Porsche Spyder) are butt ugly.

True. That was a topic of discussion that weekend, "Why can't current cars look like these sleek race cars?" 904 to 917, wether they were closed or open topped, it didn't matter - they look better than what is currently running in any series now.

Ok, maybe a step back from the keyboard would be a good idea here.

My vote is for LMP! R10s are quite nice and Pugs also nice. I agree most of the DPs are pretty hideous, but the Riley is the ugliest, the Crawford is so-so but the Doran is actually fairly acceptable.

I voted for LMP. I will say though that the Doran and Crawford are alright. I think I can say that I actually like the Chase. The Riley isn't that attractive, except for the #6 car (the paint scheme or whatever I think makes it look more like a Crawford or a Peugeot 905). The Picchio and Multimatic are hideous, hands down.
