Formula Ford Festival 2004
Who is doing this?
Also is there a timetable yet? Is it likely to be a three-day meeting again? |

Yes, clubff1600.co.uk believe that it will be a three-day affair but there is no firm timetable as yet.

Will the FF1800s run? How can you have a multi-round knockout with about 16 cars?

I prob won't bother if its a 3-dayer, can Steve Burns confirm if it is? |

I've just agreed to do it in the RF01. Never driven Brands before so it should be interesting.

It's only a four day meeting if you test - you don't have too Justin - we got our info from Steve B so it is a safe bet that what Redracer outlined is correct.

Why is it suddenly so fashionable to criticise the Festival?
With the Zetecs looking thin on the ground isn't this the chance for the FF1600s to steal the show? Obviously the BRSCC has to look at the event for next year - like choosing a weekend that doesn't clash with meetings that take away potential entries and running it on just the Saturday and Sunday. But I really hope that the FF1600s don't stay away from it to save their cars for the Walter Hayes - it's like F3 drivers skipping Macau to do Korea...... The Festival is a blue riband event and is one of the highlights of the motor racing calendar. The way some people are running it down this year it's almost like an end-of-season clubbie that might be worth the effort if there's nothing better to do. With Carnival, the Festival and the WHT it should be 4 weeks of furious action on the track not growing negativity on internet forums..... |

alfaman, have you been to the festival in the last two years?
the FF1600 boys are badly treated, the costs seem a tough expense....which in terms of the facilities and treatment over the weekend is not justified. Its a great race, on a fun track but the cost and time of the weekend may not be justified. |

And that's why I think the BRSCC needs to look at the whole Festival next year and do some radical changes. What I'm saying is sort it out before too many drivers budget for the WHT or the Carnival and only do the Festival if they've got any money left. They should make it a 2 day meeting with the option of testing on the Friday. I think they've been losing the plot over the past couple of years - mixing it with the Caterhams last year and having long Radical races a couple of years ago. The days of wall-to-wall Formula Ford races with a Thoroughbred GP race thrown in seem a long way off! |

I just wondered as you still seem excited over it (which the racing was good) but the whole weekend was just a "hassle"

The idea of making it three days will put off a lot of club competitors, the BRSCC seem to forget that most people have to work on a Friday and to get time off at this late stage will be very difficult. If they wished to encourage the club Zetec guys they have blown it totally. We do not have anybody booked to run in our Zetecs so I thought I would have a drive again this year then saw the timetable on the BRSCC website.(Well done BRSCC, not only difficult for club drivers but also clashes with the Benelux Zetec and Scottish Zetec final rounds, breweries and heavy drinking sessions etc comes to mind!)

£250 for maybe one race? WHT £185 for maybe 4?
This is why WHT will have over 80 drivers in FF1600 and the festival will only have 30 - 35 |

I think those entry details refer only to the Festival, not the King of Kents - but the cost may be the same.

That's not the way I read it, but there you go. The King of Kents heats are on Saturday morning this year, which is a pain for the likes of me!
