What is the most raced car?
i.e. a single chassis which has been raced a lot. Something like Remus or Old Mother Gun which has been 'round for 50+ years, or a well-used more-modern car?

Both I bet...you can't go to a race meeting without there being at least one there

I once heard that a quarter of all race cars ever registered in the UK were Ford Escorts.

Somebody once mentioned a 3 wheeled Morgan, which has been raced by Bill Tuer for the last forty odd years.
There is also that old bloke [Tom Delaney ??] who is still racing the same car [Frazer Nash I think] that he raced when it was new 70 odd years ago. BTW he is 93 years old. |

Tom Delaney is indeed 93 and he's racing the exact same 1928 Lea Francis that he raced at Brooklands in 1930. I don't think he's run it throughout that time, at least not as a racing car.
He won a race in it at Silverstone about three weeks ago too! Thoroughly nice bloke and I just hope I'm in a fit state to emulate his exploits when I'm 93. My suggestion for most-raced car has to be Remus, ERA chassis R5B. I think last year it competed in its 44th race season? |

My last race car did 45 meetings in 6 seasons, not bad for an unsponsored clubbie. A friend's Mini did 130 MEETINGS, not races.

Ah - that's the sort of thing I'm after David. My car (hopefully) makes its hundreth race start this weekend (in 5 seasons). I was wondering where it fitted into the grand scheme of things; certainly not the most raced car, but maybe the most raced Caterham in the UK...? (I know of a Lotus 7 that's that sounds as though its done a lot, but that's not a Caterham! )

Ludovic Linday is still regularly racing his father's (Patrick) ex Prince Bira ERA which has been on the track since the 30's and must have clocked up a lot of race miles.

In Brazil, there's not more raced car than the "Fusca" (Volkswagen Bettle). Speed 1600, Turismo Especial Paulista, Divisão 3, Copa Fusca, autocross, Baja bugs.... There was a lot of races using the bugs.

Citroen. The 2CV has its own 24 hour race plus at least 2 championships, these have now been circuit racing for 15 years or so and before that they did 2CV cross.

May I put in a plug for the good old Austin Seven, which was raced by Austins straight from its introduction in 1922/3 and in various forms up to the outbreak of WW2. After that of course it formed the basis of 750MC racing including the first Lotus, and is still raced today with VSCC, 750MC etc.
I think I am right in saying that Ulsters campaigned by Reg Nice and Frank Teideman have been racing since the 1950's. Tony Hodson |

I would have thought stuff like Caterham Superlights, Radical SR3s and Lotus Elises would be seen on most circuits these days. Although my hot favourite isthe new Mini Cooper S with the Works tuning pack.

I think My Austro-Porsche must be in with a good number - raced solidly from 1968 - 1997 (then lost) now racing again.
