I am afraid I haven't a clue when it comes to HTML so just stick with Homestead and Geocities' Site Builders - naff and unreliable, but they get the job done. Ish.

I use dreamweaver, but it is quite expenisve. Whatever you do, don't use frontpage express! The code generated is bloody huge!

Why not, Vauxhall ? Learning HTML really is pretty simple - just buy yourself a book and sit down and have a play at it! It's all I did. I know i'm nothing special, but I know enough to get by - if I can learn it, anyone can... and if you do bother to learn what you're doing, you can always be sure that your code will work in any browser, is editable, etc...

I decided that if I was going to do a website I was going to sit down and learn the basics of html (and that's still all I know - the very basic stuff!!!!), so I started off using Notepad. I've got Dreamweaver or Homesite now.
Wouldn't touch Frontpage with a bargepole. Isn't Word meant to be similar for adding tonnes and tonnes of coding?

Yep, anyone who uses FrontPage should be shot!! Seriously Notepad is great for HTML, but TextPad is slightly better (www.textpad.com) because it can do syntax colouring, so you can see what is HTML tags and what is text people will say.

Yeah, forgot about Textpad. Used to use it for everything, but I only use it for newsletter edits now... I upgraded to Homesite for HTML work as it offers so much more... but it retains the context colouring... very useful

Don't they offer a trial version of Homesite which you could download ?
