Its pretty close for what is publicly known at this stage of the year.

The snapping of chequebooks will probably turn the list on its head sooner rather than later

Placebo should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
A few there I have doubts about Tiko - mind you, I'm only guessing too.
#14 - Jason Bright Racing - I hear unlikely to be Andrew Jones.
#23 - Tasman Motorsport - I don't think Fabian Coulthard is the favourite any longer.
#33 - Garry Rogers Motorsport - I'd be surprised if it was Alan Simonsen's seat.
#43 - Steve Ellery Racing - will they still be able to afford a second car?
#45 - I would be VERY surprised to see Will Davison in that seat.
There may still be some relatively major driver changes and/or franchise movements that may influence some of these seats. And some drivers not mentioned here who are still very much in the hunt for drives.

The heads in the helmets arent as important at the moment as figuring out who controls the things with the 4 wheels that goes vroom vroom..... and that part looks very good.

There are no driver deals signed for any of the 5 seats you mention Placebo... and if I thought about it hard enough, I am sure there are 20 or do drivers with a claim (however strong!) on these slots

It may have been announced but will it happen. He might be driving in 2005 but maybe not in the top series.

Given that the AU is ineligible for main series next year, and that this team only has an AU, while FPR are likely to keep the BA originally earmarked for sale as a spare... I cant see the Walden/Romano thing happening... not when there are paying customers out there willing to provide significant returns to the franchise owner in lease payments!

JBR must start or it is a $150 000 fine per race meeting. Depending on what happens with legal action over PWR/AVESCO for Qld500 last year.

JBR may not have to start at all... if as is rumoured the lease with IMS is still only an option by contract, not a confirmed lease, and no 2005 deal has yet been formalised...

Dead right GTR. Bap Romano has the option of continuing with Walden and, with respect to Walden, won't really do much for the Romano franchise, except racing it and paying for the use. Where Romano could possibly have his franchise with a top team and driver with the possibility of really strong championship result and a possible upgrade to Level 1 status because of the result.

TSR the car numbers are allocated with the franchises. These numbers can be changed but are general kept the same by the the owners choice. For example the WPS cars will now become #11 and #8 unless Gore and Perkins, as part of their deal, have kept and changed car numbers between franchises.

you can change your number at any time to unallocated number just by asking AVESCO. once changed you no longer have any rights to the old number you can only change once in a year

teams own the number, except for number one, which is allocated to the champion or left empty if the champion does not require it

I thought that the numbers could be owned by either driver/team and in fact 888 racing paid John Bowe a bucket load of $$$$$ for ***

The numbers belong to the license, which is owned by the team.

Interestingly, as in Tiko's first post, since Larry doesn't own a license any more, he has no claim to number 11.

But I'm sure his mate Gorey will look after him. It'd seem strange to see anything other than a Perkins car wearing that number. Kind of like anything except a DJR Falcon wearing 17

As for the Romano/Walden thing, it makes perfect sense for Bap. Walden turns up and races, Bap gets the appearance money and gives some of it to Walden's, which helps subsidise their outlay.

Meanwhile, he still has an active license and, what do you know, in another 12 months or so he has the only 'available' L2 license.

As for Bright & Imrie, according to those who should know the deal has been done - for $800K.
