What records do you think Schumi WON'T break?
speeddemon 555, thread inspired this one. Schumi has broken almost every F1 driver's record possible. But what records do you think he won't break?
Here's my list: Ricardo Patrese's 256 starts Ayrton Senna's 65 poles Alberto Ascari's 9 consecutive wins |

I dont think he will break the pole record it seem's to be that pole is not really important anymore ferrari have proved that many times this season. As regurds Ascari's record I thought that would have been done and dusted this season by schumi and Patrese's record I dont know about that one I still think that he will call it a day after japan

The record for being a smug git and realising he has only won because of a Golden contract preventing others from racing him and having the best car by a country mile.
Sorry but I will never forgive him for Austria. Regards Guy |

i dont think he will ever win the Guy Goddard2 award for most favorite driver !....
if he's got any sense , he will retire while he's still at the top.....and get out before the youngster start to beat him often...it will happen one day for sure. So maybe he wont be able to beat Ricardo's GP starts record . |

I thought the Monza 71 record for the fastest race was still up for grabs. 150+ mph AVERAGE speed for the race. Won by Peter Gethin, his only F1 win, in a BRM, he was 3rd going into the last curve.
It was also the closest ever finish (I think) by a few feet only from Peterson. Fifth was Ganley BRM just 6/10's sec behind. like to see the lad go for those Simon |

It depends on how many records they keep makin' up for him.
Time was when you had fastest lap, and poles(possibly a couple more). But now they just make up records for anythin'.................. Shu has the record for havin' the best pair of pants, realy nice haircut, worst eysight..................the list goes on. |

The record for most retirements in a season... Is it Villeneuve's 14 in 1999 the record or did Barrichello get more in 1997?

He won't get anywhere near Patrese's starts, but I reckon he could get close to Senna's pole position tally, but won't surpass it. Not with JPM and his banzai qualifying style!

He will never break Senna's 65 pole positions. Or at least, he had better not!

Erm... I wouldn't bet that he won't break Patrese's record. In that case both the poles and 9 consecutive wins have little chances to resist... Anyway, he has 177 (I mean 175) GP's started and 5 more years of racing doesn't seem unrealistic...

DNQ, I am fascinated by your comment about Senna's pole record. You say about Schu: "...at least he better not." (set new record). Why not? Who had the record before Senna? Was that record any more "his" and deemed to be off limits as you say it now is for Senna? If someone has the best car and can drive it, why not go for it?
I am not saying this as a pro-Schumi thing but why shouldn't the record fall one day? Could be Schumi or JPM or even Mark Webber! Records are made to be broken as they say. Whether it is broken or not, any of us who have seen Senna will know how special he was. |

If anyone (of the drivers of today) breaks Senna's Poles record, i think the man to do it will be Monty, and not Shu.

Schumi will never ever break the record of being the most aggressive/intense driver in formula one history... the record solely belongs to 'Tokoma Sato'. I dont think it ever can be broken!

How about the record of most poles in one season? Nigel Mansell scored 14 from 16 starts in 1992. With JPM about he won't match that! And surely Damon Hill must hold some sort of record for starting all 16 races from the front row in 1996?

Button becomes the youngest driver to get to 50 GP's this weekend I think? Unless Shumi has a time machine...
