FRC Round 5: Le Mans 24 Hours
This is the official prediction thread for Round 5 of the 2008 Fantasy Racing Challenge, which is the 24 Hours of Le Mans. This is the biggy! And it's double points. Pertinent information can be found as follows:
The entry list: http://www.lemans.org/24heuresdumans...ngages_gb.html The event schedule: http://www.lemans.org/24heuresdumans...raires_gb.html If you have not read through the rules and information thread, please do so, as the format is somewhat unique. Your submission should include your pole prediction for each class along with your pick(s) for each class winner. Reminder: You can pick from one to three cars for your class winning choice. I have no set format for submitting your picks as long as it is easy to follow. A submission for P1 might look like this: P1 Pole: Audi #2 Win: Audi #1, Peugeot #7, Pescarolo #16 A submission for GT1 might look like this: Pole: #007 Aston Martin Win: #64 Corvette All predictions should be in by 6:00pm (18:00) local time Wednesday, June 11th. The deadline is 1 hour prior to the first practice session. Good luck to everyone! Last edited by jhansen; 6 Jun 2008 at 05:36. |

P-1
Pole Peugeot #8 Win Audi #2 P-2 Sweep #34 VM Motorsport Spyder GT-1 Pole AMR #009 Win Corvette #63, Corvette #64 GT-2 Pole Risi #82 Win Risi #82, Virgo #96 Good Luck to everyone! Also while I have your attention; I think this race because of its unique nature in that it combines both LMS, ALMS and entries that we basically have not seen should in the future be allowed to be a two part pick. The first pick coming pre-qualifying and being the pole pick and the second one being just before the race itself. I realize that the whole thing (FRL) is a guessing game, but at least in the other races we have previous performances against each other and practice sessions before qualifying to base our picks on. I know its double points, but the fact that it is of such duration and the added hazards that introduces is worth at least a doubling of points IMO. O.K. now that I have stirred the pot. L.P. |

Hello
There is no doubt in my mind (at least) that this is a difficult call. Peugeot should easily take pole but the race is a whole different ball game. I still think Audi should win it but the diesel cars could easily race themselves into oblivion and the next best team to profit from that would be Pescarolo. Decisions, decisions but in the end I'm hoping McNishy gets his second LM24 Hrs victory. Its got to be a Porsche RS Spyder in LMP2 just on the reliability factor and the Van Merksteijn car should get the pole but I think the Essex car should get the win with that driver line up. LMP1 Pole: #8 Peugeot 908 Win: #2 Audi R10, #16 Pescarolo LMP2 Pole: #34 Van Merksteijn Porsche Win: #31 Essex Porsche GT1 Pole: #009 AM DBR9 Win: #63 Corvette C6R GT2 Pole: #82 Risi Ferrari 430GT Win: #76 IMSA Porsche 911 GT3-RSR I'm also hoping the new LMP1 and 2 Lola Coupes have a decent run and finish. Best of luck to everyone and I hope the Eurosport coverage here in the UK is up to it. Nick |

well I had some down time at work today so I had a go at throwing some numbers together. I have ThePenguin as the round winner with 14 pts. I still cant remember how I put 80 down instead of 82 but oh well.
