Starts and Re-Starts
I'm sure this has been asked before.
At the start of a Nascar race are cars not allowed to race until they have passed the green flag (as is the case in most moving start races), but, under a restart, as soon as the flag is shown to the leader all cars on track can start racing there and then and not have to pass the flag point?? |

On all starts/restarts, drivers may pass before getting to the start/finish, as long as they pass to the outside. If this is not done, they will receive a stop-and-go penalty.
