German GT series
This has been mentioned in a couple of other threads, particularly with reference to Franz Konrad, so does anyone know anything about the 'German GT series' which we're supposed to be seeing in 2005?

I think this is looking more likly in 2006, Opel/GM are pulling out of the DTM in 2006 leaving only Audi & merc, so unless another team can be found to run in the series it will fold.
Merc have always found it easy (if pricy) to swap series and Audi should (hopefully) be busy with the R9 in LMEs and ALMs then. Roll on the Norsring money race! MC12 head to head with a DB9 and 550 and a Saleen retiring in the background (only joking S7's are great and very reliable) and a silver 'son of' CLK flying overhead |

The ADAC Procar Serie is part of the Beru Top 10 weekend. Allowed are GT and N-GT, but also V8Stars and other cars (like DTM cars?) that are used in current Langstrecken Pokal.
Each race is on Sunday is 75 minutes. |

But is there going to be a new series, or are some FIA GT runners going to join the established ADAC championship? I am confused.

Its a new series within the Top-10 Package, replacing the Tin-Top DPC as the main event.
We talked to the organisators in oschersleben at the FIA-GT and what we heared sounded like a very good concept. All will be fixed untill the Motorshow in Essen. |

Are they making the MC12 tow a caravan then? Cheers. |

Also, the Nordschleife is not homologated for current FIA-GT and ACO-GTS cars (in other words, "GT2" cars).
I know - "but they have turbo Porsches on the 'Ring" - but those aren't GT2 cars; they are 24hr Specials. In spite of their power, they are slower than GT2 cars (if only just). |

Surely, though, they could run GT2 cars on the Nordschleife.

..and this is exactly the kind of confusion over terminology we should try to avoid. The "small" GTs in FIA and ACO - yes; the "big" GTs - no. That's the way the track is homologated. You can run everything on every track (how far you will get is another matter) but you are not allowed to run such cars on the Nordschleife, unless in restricted "24hr Special" form. That's the way it is.
