Amilcar 6-cylinders

Simple question,

do any of our erudite contributors know the difference between an Amilcar C0 and an Amilcar C6?

And can you tell them apart from external reference clues?

The Differences

The main difference between the C6 and the C0 is that the C6 has a plain bearing engine and the C0 has roller bearings.

According to David Venables in 'The Racing Fifteen Hundreds' the C0 also has the Cylinder head cast integrally with the block and the C6 has a detachable head.

Thanks Mark.

Now, the next question - what was the capacity of the engine? Was it the same for both C0 and C6, or is there a difference?

And is there any hope of deducing which is which from external clues outside the car? (Exhaust exits, axle placement, etc)

This is one of the ongoing bugbears of my Brooklands research. The multitude of private entrants with assorted Amilcars.

Pity the poor historian!

From the same book:

The C0 had a twin overhead camshaft engine of 55 mm x 77 mm (1096 cc).

The C6 has dimensions of 56 mm x 74 mm (1094 cc).
