funny race stories

hello,
i found my own pictured story in another forum, but i think ii is worth also to be mentioned here.

1000km race nurburgring 1964. in the mid of the race , chris lawrence makes a mistake, and the car, the nice aluminium morgan slr , goes beside the track in the dirt.
chris is not able to get the car out, so he disappears in the spectators area, but reappers soon with an axe in his hand. he crosses the track (it happened only 20 m before the well known karussell)and jumps through the hedge. some minutes later he returns with a cut chrismas-tree.
he really succedes in liftig the car with his own muscle -power and getting it free. the whole action only lasted about 15 minutes, and the slr morgan was back in the race.
by the way, this car still exists (in the usa), one of only three made.

Fred Boothby told me that one year he spun his Chevron at the Nurburgring (1,000 km presumably), in trying to avoid him the works Porsche team collided with themselves.

The funny aspect of this story is exactly the same thing happened the next year!

Seems that Porsche thought he might have been put up to htis by another team.

I've no idea of any details but it certainly made a great story when he told it!
