Please help identifying 1971 sports car
Hello,
I have found lots of information about sports cars of the seventies on this forum, but I was not able to identify this car. I saw the whole car in the 80s, and made pictures while being restored some time later. But I did miss to ask more details, including manufaturer. Can someone help? Peter |

Welcome to the forum.
Have you any other information about where you saw it? Even what country you were in when you saw it would help. A circuit would help even more. |

The left picture was taken about 1985 in Germany, the picture of the frame is newer, but also taken in Germany. I try to get more information about the time before 1985.
I was not able to find pictures of the car from the seventies. If my information is correct, it came from the UK to Germany in the eighties, but was well used, so there must be racing history. -peter |

Yes, the huron looks very similar in all details except the top bodywork. The red body on the car is probably not the original one. Is the Huron chassis tube-based, or a monocoque?
Any tips where to find more pcs of it? Thanks Peter |

I am not so sure it is a Huron, it looks more like a Darren or even some of the sports 2000 cars rather than a 2 litre sports racing car. Do you know where the picture was taken?

Daren, as far as I know, had a different style of the frame. But the bodywork seams at least Daren-inspired.
Another Huron for sale: http://www.motorsportads.co.uk/race-...ars/13832.html Has a monocoque, so this beast is different. How about Taydec? I found this: http://www.barchetta.cc/All.Ferraris...taydec-mk.html Which cars from this period had a frame made from rectangular tubes? |

Mismatch?
The bodywork doesn't seem to fit very well! If you enlarge it as far as it will go there is quiet a gap between the fibreglass top and the ally flanks!

Did You notice that the numbers are only on the red plastic parts, not on the lower aluminium panels?
Does anyone has information about starters and cars of the early years of Steigenberger SuperSports Cup? 1980 to 1985? I did not find anything on the net. |

The Body work is I suspect almost certainly Daren in origin. I built a model of the car when it was current and the shape is closer to Daren than any other car of the period. The chassis does not look like a Daren as it is rounded along the lower edge where as the Daren was square

I thought that the Gropa was a body kit that you fitted to your old Chevron B8.
I think the BODYWORK looks more Daren than any of the other suggestions. |

After doing some more research, it should be sure that the bodywork is from a Daren Mk3. But the frame is not a Daren, for sure. I saw a similar built frame from a Coldwell Mink, is there a possible connection? So, if You look at the car, ignore the red bodywork.

All Jo Marquart's cars at Huron were monocoque.
Which this clever Swiss engineer continued at GRD. Nice man: I had the pleasure of meeting Jo at Snet when I was testing our Huron FII and he was there testing GRDs in 1972 or 3. |

http://img267.imageshack.us/my.php?i...inbm81slt9.jpg It is certainly not a Dulon, and also the Taydec, Gropa, Huron pictures I have would not give the idea that it is one of those cars that we are looking for. |

When I spoke with Matloff last year he told me that Martin was basically always running one year behind the Chevrons, in particular regarding the development of the Ford engines... |
