MotoGP tyres
I know that the teams are using a mix of Michelin and Bridgestone tyres for 2006, but are any of the teams using any other make (Dunlop etc)?
I know Dunlop was used last year and was wondering if this is the case again. Thnaks in advance Paul |

Hey there, yes you are right about that two makers currently involved in GP, Dunlop are involved in the otehr classes I think pretty much unopposed in 250 and 125.
In GP it is rumoured that James Ellison will be running a Yamaha M1 on Dunlop tyres in 06. James greatly impressed the Dunlop engineers in 05 with his application on the WCM and the feedback he gave about the tyres. So much so in fact that they are helping with the cash to get him a Yamaha this year! I think they might do a bit better this year as in BSB the Dunlops were having the edge in the latter part of the year, no doubt helping Lavilla to win the title! And of course they are dominant in AMA |

Dunlop could have six bikes in MotoGP this year. D'antin Ducati, WCM and possibly two Tech-3 Yamahas. Herve Poncheral is talking like Ellison is a done deal and he also wants to run a second bike, he's after Checa who isn't keen on Dunlops, though he should probably be grateful for the offer.
I think Dunlop are getting the most serious they've been about MotoGP for a long time and I hope thats the case if Ellison is riding for Yamaha. |

Thanks for the feedback guys. It is hard to find info on the MotoGP class for 2006, most sites still have 2005 info. Can anyone suggest a good source of info?

No way is D"Antin Ducati on Dunlops the deal was Bridgestones and 06 bikes, that is why Rolfo prbly had to go, as well as to make way for the human budget that is Cardoso!

My apologies for the above thread, i was reading an old release form last year about the Dantin bikes that siad they were gonn be on Bridgeys, when in fact they are on Dunlop tyres
Which begs the quesiton, why did they get rid of Rolfo when he had a years experience on the tyres, Surely he would cost less than Hoffmann, Cardoso I understand coz he is a walking budget! |
