Rockingham Sure for Men - The race
lap 110: Darren Manning leads (OK it's pit strategies, but hey!)
Andretti has just had a drive through for speeding. Brack quickest of the main group onthe 'standard' strategy. Dario and Manning risking the other. Dario quickest of them. |

Lap 113: Darren has finally stopped and dropped down to 13th.
Franchitti is in 4th and has had a stop extra, so is looking OK. However, everyone has to stop at least twice. Kenny leading well, Takagi is looking good in second too! |

All in and out. Dario now back in sink.
Darren leads again! The first CART rookie to lead since Dixon last year. I suppose that is some sort of record! |

A yellow is out! Darren is still leading! Could really help him! "debris on the track"!
Ha! He should stay on the lead lap because of it! |

Manning had a wing end plate fall off! Apparently there was no contact.
Why am I typing all this? |

f1manoz, the race isn't that bad! I'm quite enjoying it. Although there have been better CART races. To be fair the race starts now. Only one stop left...

Dario had a good stop (needed 3 laps less of fuel). Brack had a probelm. Dario leads!
Dario da Matta Carpentier Servia Bruno Takagi Vasser Fernandez BRack (unlucky with poor pitstop, so unlucky.) Manning I'm going to press on regardless! |

Manning cpould be in trouble. Smoke from his car and Andretti (who is behind him) is complaining that he is getting oil on his visor
Servia, Bruno and Tiger are having a great dice. |

11 to go and Manning's running 9th, but off pace. Will the engine hold?
Fernandez is going to get a talking-to from resident babysitter Chris Kneiffel... |

Great result - reckon he will go to the IRL now or stay with CART?

Dario? His team might be going, but I think he'll stay in CART. He's just won his first oval race, but I think he likes the diversity of CART.

Dario, Darren... Good on ya!
That call to run without the endplate was pure balls... _That's_ what a team leader is supposed to do! Y'know, on pure aesthetics, the British anthem beats ours hands down. Oh, and yeah, Dario's got no interest in the IRL. He'd sooner hang up his helmet. Last edited by Lee Janotta; 14 Sep 2002 at 14:50. |

The anthem is quite good and it's the last night of the proms tonight too! Even more like it (and a few even better).
I agree about the end plate thing. Poor Kenny. Wheel nut fell out of the gun! |

He got a black flag for pit lane speeding I think, and ignored it.
I was only watching the timing and listening, apparantly he was "livid" (repeated by Leigh Diffey about 20 times) |
