Starting Problem - Rotax Max

Been trying to start my Rotax max that i purchased 6 weeks ago and am getting nowhere.

I have charged the battery to full but it still sounds like the starter motor is not very powerfull?

What else can i do to get it started? / Whats usual starting procedure?

if its new/newish there have been a lot of dodgy batteries going round

try another battery, even an older one

loads of people in north west had trouble sin f.blue and rotax(similar battery)

Our usual starting procedure is:

Fresh mixed fuel - a few litres in the tank
Blow through the fuel tank breather hose to prime the fuel pump & carby
Choke on
Ignition on
hit starter
if doesn't start, blow thru breather hose again or cover air box intake for a few seconds while starting
if this fails again, check plug

One common problem with these motors is, on a very cold day the starter motor struggles to engage the flywheel. So we take the plug out of the engine and keep turning it over until the starter motor solenoid heats up a bit.

As tator said, you need a good battery, the cheap 'alarm' style batteries aren't suitable for these engines, so get something decent.

Hope that helps.

Yeah an amp meter might be a good investment - Ive had ones that have charged but only had say (I forget the exact numbers) 12.5 and just wouldnt start the damn thing. Whack on a new one and bobs...
