Rip F2001

The F2001 will probably never be raced again. Having amassed 193 points, and 10 gp wins, it has to be one of the most successful chassis in recent history.

I wonder if the F2002 will have a similar record?

It may win Michael the championship, but it wont match the 10 wins (unless they use it for the start of 2003 aswell). I dont think the 2002 car will have an advantage over williams this year. It will be a lot touhger for Michael to get wins this year.

F2001 was just LEAGUES ahead of anything last year. Greatest F1 car since..... a Williams, probably. Or may be the 98 McL.

The 1998 McLaren was leagues better than last years Ferrari. The only reason Ferrari had a good season, was that there was no competition, unlike this year.

Greatest car was the 1992 FW14B Williams-Renault driven by Nigel Mansell to 14 poles positions (All races except Canada and Hungary), 9 victories (South Africa, Mexico, Brazil, Spain, San Marino, France, Britain, Germany, Portugal plus second places in Monaco, Hungary and Belgium.) and the World Drivers Championship with 108 points.

Riccardo Patrese took second overall with one pole (Hungray), one victory (Japan plus second places in South Africa, Mexico, Brazil, San Marino, France, Britain, thirds in Monaco and Belgium) and scored 56 points.

Williams dominated the constructors championship with 164 points, wrapping it up in Belgium with four races to go.

AND because the car was just a derivative of the 1991 car, could one also include the 1991 results?

That F2001, with all its different versions, was a darn amazing car. This comes from a blatant JPM fan that saw the Red car and its driver on the top of the podium on most of last year's GP's.

What impressed me the most was its reliability -- and with its rock solid dependability, it was a thorn in the collective backs of the Ferrari rivals

And with all the reliability fame that precedes it,
is why I find it very unfortunate for RB this year.

How come Michael had no problems with his?
Is it the set ups?
The driver?
Just plain bad luck?
Those are million dollar questions that will probably never be answered.

As for the F2002, I hope it doesn't disappear into the horizon and blow everybody away by not giving the rest of the teams a chance to fight for first place this year.

I say this as a Formula 1 fan and a JPM fan that wants to continue witnessing the great competition that we have been given the privilege of enjoying up to now.

But you know what? I back off on my last statement. If the F2002 is that good, lets see the Williams and McLarens and the rest of the teams put up the ante. - am I being too optimistic here? I sure hope not, I don't want a repeate of last year, that's all.

According to the ITV Massa rumours Rubens is fed up at still having to drive th F2001, and I think they said somewhere that he will drive it in Imola!?!
