Moto GP Rnd 2 - We're In Japan so The Title May Be Decided...
Oh wait, it's only the second race. And yet, we're in Japan. WTF! Well, Motegi is usually a late season venue, but this year it is Round 2. Actually, I'm ok with that, because I'm not found of it as a venue that could decide the title outcome. The track doesn't inspire the soul much. It has lots of straights and heavy braking areas. There is a nice flowing section after the tunnel, but that's about it.
With that said, you have to expect that Stoner will be strong here. It just seems like a Ducati track. I'm sure Rossi will go well, but I think he is facing another challenging weekend. If he can bag another second before heading to Jerez I'm sure he'd be ok with that. Stoner and Rossi were talking tires on Thursday. Rossi declares the new regulations difficult, as two compounds are sometimes not enough. Stoner is ok with it. He says it's easier to know what your competitors are up to. Other than the top two, we have Dovi and Lorenzo I suspect. And maybe Pedrosa, although he still aint 100%. And quite honestly, it would be great to not have to hear him give a podium interview. We'll see how the Suzuki boys can get on and supposedly Hayden is back to full fitness. It will be interesting to see if he can look like he's riding the same bike as his teammate. Round 1 saw an interesting 250 race. I doubt we will ever mention the name Jules Cluzel for the remainder of the season. But he was brilliant in Race 1. I believe that Simoncelli will race this weekend, but he'll be starting on zero points. Hopefully 125 will put on a better race this time around. This is of course a guarantee, as they only put on a four lap race in Qatar. Enjoy the racing everyone! |

Melandri seems to be showing some pace with the Kawi. Wait, are we still calling it a Kawi?

I think Suzuka holds too many bad memories for many, and it is pretty unsafe in a GP bike
You have to rememebr it is a pretty old track now!! Motegi is a great track to ried I gather, far better than Fuji!! |

Danny Webb is flying in the 125's - tyres are going to play a huge part in this race... Who has wets, who has dry's , should be entertaining to watch this one pan out...

250 was ok .. nice showing again from a Honda shame we lost both diMeglio and Simoncelli
in MotoGP we finally had 5 riders at the top Lorenzo was very good Rossi probably lost the race in that strange lap were he lost one full second and got him under attack from Pedrosa losing an extra half a second in the process Honda is quite fast in a straight line, Rossi had big problems keeping it behind Stoner did a Rossi .. recovered pretty well |

Good rides from many especially Lorenzo with that presure and also Pedrosa who surely can not be that fit.
Bad for De Angelis, Vermuelen who fell asleep before waking up again and the Tech 3 guys who were not really on it And how Canepa can last a year being that rubbish I dont know |

Well that was a better gp race than what I expected. Nice dicing between Rossi and Lorenzo, and then Rossi and Pedrosa. Given the lack of dry running, I thought the race would be horrid. Great stuff from Melandri. He's got a few more races to go before they start losing out on the development front.
Way to go Takahashi. That was a brilliant move to try in front of your countrymen. I bet they were proud. Hayden needs the track time, so that did him no favors. Glad he's ok. Question: Should riders be penalized for moves like this? Perhaps a grid slot penalty at the next round. The last thing I want to see is Moto GP get penal like F1, but taking someone out like that is just pathetic. |
