BTCC 50th Anniversary
Alan Gow commissioned me to paint these pictures shown below. Two 36x24in acrylic originals showing all of the Champions from the past 50 years from Jack Sears in 1958 to Giovanardi last year. I've split them at 1984/85 and personally (being an old fart!) I like the older cars best, with Jimmy Clark in the centre. The days when leading F1 drivers took part - can you imagine the BTCC with Hamilton & co in it today? It would be mega...
I have not painted every car, for example only one Matt Neal Honda as he won it twice in basically the same car, likewise Bill McGovern won the title three years running in the Imp, so I only painted one. These are printed as official BTCC 50th anniversary prints and are released at Snetterton this coming weekend. You can also see them on my site www.andrewkitson.com Hope you like them! Cheers, hope it's nice and sunny and dry at Snett after the drenching at the GP last week... Very Interesting Andrew, do you do this for Individual cars i.e if someone just wanted a print of Thompsons Astra?
The Menu Mondeo really stands out for me as one of the best on the board. On a slighly different note did you or have you painted Mansells BTCC car from 1998 by any chance? thanks Last edited by Icebaby; 9 Jul 2008 at 08:50. |

Thanks. You can see the prints and details about them on my site, web address in original post.
Sorry but I do not have any prints of the individual cars and have never painted Nigel's Ford. The obvious one for that would be in the rain at Donington, one day perhaps! |

Just had a good look through your site Andrew which is amazing and I dont think I have ever seen such detail on motorsport pictures before, I was also Impressed that there were general paintings completed which hopefully means cost is not beyond everyone who appreciates your work. If you ever paint Nigels Mondeo at Donnington Park let me know!.

Fantastic as ever Andrew. As an aside I do find it odd that one of the most prolific cars ever to race in the BTCCnever actually won the outright championship. I refer to the Capri of course.
Nice to see the Will Hoy BMW and of course the Rover. However I think I'm right in saying Andy rouse appears more than any other driver in a Dolomite, Alfa, Rover and a Sierra? Of course I should check the list really. |

Cheers Pete! I think some of the best ever BTCC racing was the Capris v BMW's & Rovers in the late 70s, early 80s, especially nose to tail around Silverstone like an FF race! The Spice Capri's, Woodman, Buncombe, Stuart Graham etc...marvellous. The old class system often never allowed the actual overall winner to be Champion. EDIT - you beat me to it Peter.

Wonderful stuff Andrew
I'd love it if someone down here does something similiar for the ATCC/V8Supercar 50th anniversary in 2010.... |

Absolutely stunning Andrew. You've really excelled yourself there. A copy of each for the living room walls I think!

Great paintings, unfortunately as of today the Cleland cavalier doesn't look quite so good as it does in the painting.
After weeks of hard toil getting it back into shape, Mr Cleland decided to stuff it into the barriers at Goodwood this afternoon |

Just a note as the other thread is locked to say thankyou to Andrew for offering these 2 prints as prizes and they're looking great hung up in my motorsport room. The images on here really don't do them justice IMHO. They're superb up close.
I'd have ended up buying them anyway so to win them just makes it better! Thanks to all at Tenths and to Andrew again for the competition. |
