Petition
Perhaps I'm a dreamer, but would any one be interested in sighing an online petition to V8 Supercars & Ch 7 to let them know we are over
races that are 'time certain' and want change? I dunno how successful it would be, but I'd sure feel better letting them know of our dissatisfaction. Cheers, Chris |

What's your alternative to time certain finishes?
1. Let the telecast run on and upset the fans of the next show because it starts late, or 2. Let the race continue after the telecast finishes!? |

i can live with time certain finishes. as long as the time is reasonable
However Bathurst with a 6.45 maximum time is a crock. especially seeing how they moved the start time. If we get amostly wet race or a significant accident and they will run out of time and that will be a big disspointment |

Time certain finish for Bathurst 1000 is a bit stupid. I'm sure 7 would be able to move it to 7Mate or just do what 9 does with the cricket and continue on with it (the cricket) and either delay the news or have it on another channel. Also don't really like it when races loose say 2 or 3 laps due to time certain finish, should be a rule that if there are say less than 5 laps remaining at time certain time, they should just continue to the designated finish.
Time certain finish also a major problem for supports, pretty sure we have lost nearly a 5th of the entire Dunlop series laps for the season due to time certain finishes. |

Time finish for Bathurst is a massive insult to The Great Race. The legends are turning in their graves as we speak.
It's just another reason the current management of the sport need to go, and the sport needs to get away from being TV entertainment, and get back to being car racing first and foremost, and all the other **** second. |

The only way to complain is by feet and remotes.
1) don't attend meetings 2) Follow it on the internet through forums or the like Deny V8s spectator numbers and C7 ratings One prob with time finishes, and there is a lot of races that run on this , is the planning: Example: Dunlop Series at QR, couple of offs and bent cars, ok, they did it themselves, but the organising committee, should consider these factors: 1) Dev series 15 laps ( average time per lap 1 min 56 secs) 2) Number of entrants times avg lap ( 32 x 1.56 = 49.92 mins) 3) Time allowed for recover out of gravel traps ( say 4 recovs at 3 mins each) 12 mins 4) A couple of safety cars for bent/broken cars say 6 mins 5) race time 49 mins , Recovs 12 mins , Safety car 6 mins 6) So total time allocated for each race is 1 hr 8 mins, + 5% 7) That should eliminate time finishes, Atm, every thing is so scheduled, that if a grid girl breaks a finger nail, two laps will be lost. I just don't think they plan very well, would have liked to seen a interview with Rusty at the end, and a few others but that's it thanks for the year gone. Ps I follow it more on the forums and internet rather than watching |

In your calculations, why avg lap time x No of Entries? (they don't do a single lap each, like a shootout)
Shouldn't it be No of laps x slowest lap time? Anyway, if that formula (or similar) was in place and there were no offs, crashes or safety cars.... Everyone would be whinging about the big time gaps between races. [you can't please all the people all the time!] |

Schedule a 20 minute "wrap up show"... I’m sure there’s enough going on post race on a Saturday to make for some interesting “tech” segments with Larko. On Sunday, I’m sure there’s also a few drivers who wouldn’t mind giving someone a post race ear bashing…. If the race goes long, the wrap up show becomes a 15, 12, 10, 5 minute wrap up show……
I’m sure if you pre filmed a batch of non time critical content pieces on different topics, you could whip them out in the post show as and when they relate to something that happens during the race… Someone destroys a gearbox mid race, Crompo’s teasing the post show with a “stick around to see a little post race piece about what goes into servicing the gearboxes.”, someone walls a car on Saturday “after the race we’ll give you an insight into what it takes to fix a car away from the workshop”... |

So what your saying is basically have a V8XTRA straight after the race finishes until the news starts.

I doubt the TV networks would like that, they want the race to finish and then that almost instant flow over into the news, no need to give people (the casual fans) a chance to change the channel or walk away, that is not what they are paying for.

Yes but during the winter, there is generally an episode of that god awful show [INSERT STATE HERE] Weekender. Such a waste of time.

1) Yes.If the show is The Great Southeast ( or your local version) Big Deal. Let the racing go on. If the news, well that seems to be the holy of holies for the networks. Can't move the news, dumb ****s might get confused. Go over to Mate. Or run the whole race on mate. 2) No, lets get rid of the puff pieces/crap cross promotional adverts/ utterly irrelevent crap like the version of "Greased Lightning" we we inflicted with on Sunday. Then the telecast would have enough time to (shock horror!) cover all the racing. |

Wasn't it explained a few years back that time certain races were as much to do with International telecasting as it was with local telecasters?
I think this is making a mountain out of a molehill, bugger all V8 races in the whole scheme of things this season were stopped early |
