Engine penalties...
Well it looks like Kimi might have one. http://www.formula1.com/race/news/1381/716.html
Still he could do with a fresher engine to last the race It has also limited his running too. |

With the way things are shaping up with the tires, it may not matter where they start on the grid if they have to pit 6 times...

If either were realistically looking at a midfield position based upon times (which from the eveidence of the first two sessions they could be) it could be worth while to fuel up to the hilt, not complete a flyer and just start from the back anyway

3 tyre blowouts...
Remember Sauber with their rear wing collapse during practice at Brazil a few seasons back? They withdrew from the race due to safety reasons? Does Michelins have more durable compounds for Michelin-shod teams to choose from? If all the tyre supplies face a high risk of failure, would they be forced to not race?? It's impossible i know..but just curious of "IFs" |

Anyways, this topic is about engine penalties...
DC had an off which isn't going to help his already frail engine.. and DC isn't a brilliant qualifier now....would Mclaren change his engine in a bid to push more reliability and hope to score more points for the WCC? |

It is really starting to look....
It is really starting to look like Kimis 2004 season is going to be a character builder for him. After having such a phenominal season last year, he must be getting frustrated by all the setbacks which are all no fault of his own.

Say Kimi had another engine go before the race would he then fall another ten places? IE The back of the grid?

i think no matter how many times u change ur engine. Only if u change it, u drop 10 places.

I thought you drop 10 place for every engine change..but i may be wrong...(i usually am! )
Unfortunate for Mclaren and Mercedes....Malaysia was a step forward, and Bahrain is a step back. With teams now forced by new regulations to make an engine last longer...it's ironic that one big manufacturer is having problems making their engine last as long as the engine they had last year. |

I predict Raikkonen will blow by into the lead with a squirrely engine only to blow up on the last lap. Didn't Hakkinen's car fail shortly before the finish line on a sure win?

I predict over half the engines will cook themselves on the formation lap, and they'll all decide to contest the race on pit bikes instead...

Hakkinens clutch failed at Barcelona on the last lap, whilst leading yes.
Maybe McLaren will go back to "Judd" power |
